Ping!
I’d suspect that this may have emotional ramifications...sociologically but isn’t likely to affect the SCOTUS decision..
If Francis had never uttered the words “Who am I to judge”, the liberal love affair with the Pope would not exist. He’s the one that stepped right into it, knowing full well he will uphold the teachings of the Catholic Church. Either that or become an apostate.
Francis the hypocrite. One minuet he wants to compromise on
gay marriage and gay priests in the church and now when his feet
are to the fire we get this.
Francis = Obama = communism.
“If Francis had never uttered the words Who am I to judge...”
Whoa! Idiots keep taking his comments out of context. His “Who am I to judge” never suggested that he supported gay marriage or anything else about the gay agenda. PERIOD! People need to learn to read!
“One minuet he wants to compromise on
gay marriage...”
Never happened.
His remarks “Who am I to judge” was about a priest who had repented and is now trying to live a chaste life. Of course this was not how it was reported in the news.
He has been clear all along on the subject of marriage. And I agree with his opinion on gays insofar as we shouldn't be stoning them. And, literally, we are not stoning them. The opposite of stoning them, is "not stoning them". The opposite of stoning them is NOT "legalize same-sex marriage".
How do we know he's not being mistranslated?
If you read the CNA link within the OP, he never comes out (heh, no pun intended) and says “gay marriage”. It is the Vatican spokesperson that says Francis is referring to “gay marriage” in part when he says “new ideological colonization”.
Everything to everyone? ??
It's kinda funny.
After every boneheaded statement he makes, the folks rush out to say that we just don't the context, and, when that doesn't work, tell us that somebody mistranslated.
In the latest episode, nobody is claiming a mistranslation or missed context, but they are adding words -- "gay marriage" that aren't there. Was the pope talking about gay "marriage?" According to his [usual] [mis]translators, yes.
OK. This time they translated properly. Who am I to judge?
Thank you. I enjoy reading Paul Kengor’s articles, whether political or religious.
*he again edged closer to a firm, unequivocal papal statement against same-sex marriage.**
Why edge? Shouldn’t this be an easy one?
And I hope all of the posters here read Kengor’s entire article before posting.
Oh no?
Francis doesn’t minuet, lol? He does a hot cha-cha, though.
As I mentioned to one of my friends yesterday, I suspect that Pope Francis was not prepared for the western press. He has always been a part of Argentina, a country which has gone from nationalism to communism to fascism. Although Argentina does have private commerce it is totally corrupted by the concentration of power in Buenos Aires and the money laundering going on.
So, he had never really experienced a ‘free’ country which includes economic freedom and personal charities and freedom of religion, etc. I think he is naïve when it comes to some of his manners of speaking. Unfortunately he also seems to be a rather slow learner as he is always having to rephrase things he says.
Liberals claim to love this Pope Francis. But, at heart, I think Pope Francis is a truly Christ-centered man, and will not waver in serious moral matters.
As to global warming, I think he is making a mistake in getting involved in the discussion. Other than our obligation to not pollute the earth and it’s atmosphere, the rest of it, like declaring CO2 a pollutant, is a lot of bunk.
“Oh no?”
Show where Pope Francis ever once said he wanted a compromise in Catholic teaching on gay marriage.
