The Blessed Virgin Mary was thoroughly Jewish. Different cultures and ethnicities have often portrayed her, Jesus, and others from the Bible as being from their group.
Since Christianity for many centuries was based largely in Europe, these important characters of salvation history have often been depicted as white Europeans. Which is fine! But other cultures have also depicted them according to their own appearances.

This is interesting, but saying that a European depiction of Mary is invalid is a bit ridiculous. Has the author seen many Jewish girls? Alicia Silverstone? Plenty of Jewish women have blonde hair and blue eyes. What I want to know is, where are the redheaded depictions of Mary?
I hadn’t applied the fact that we will be like the angels, no race or gender, to all. Portrayals here should be Jewish. I have yet to find a Nativity I really like so I may just do my own.
I agree. It's important to the story that the Jews were then the Chosen People where this miracle would take place.
We were in Czestochowa 8 years ago and saw the Black Madonna. Our tour was fortunate enough to be there during Mass that day. What a blessing,seeing that has been one of the spiritual highlights of our lives and we know it will be for you also.
A visit to Montserrat, Spain in also a wonderful experience and we highly recommend a trip there as well.

Well, if I understand the diaspora, and the differences between the Jewish groups (Ashkenazi, Sephardic, etc.) Alicia Silverstone’s family most likely was of desecendants of later European settlement jewa (via intermarriage with non-jews or their conversions), hence her lighter complexion as compared to most jews truly from the middle east, semitic in origin, and were more likely to look like, well, middle eastern or mediteranean, not as central or northern European looking, so to speak. I suspect Mary (Miriam, her Hebrew name) probably was olive-skinned, with dark hair and dark eyes, given up until that point in time, the jews were very heavily concentrated in the middle east, before their dispersion by the Romans after 70 AD. I don’t think anyone knows for sure, but the odds are more likely that way. Just sayin’.

There have always been blond and redheaded Jews, even before the dispersion. Just north of Israel is Lebanon, where there are still many people with blond hair and or blue eyes, who don’t have that history to point to. I wasn’t arguing one way or the other what Mary looked like. For me and many other Christians it’s irrelevant. I wanted though to point out that European depictions of her aren’t necessarily the fabrications that this article alludes to by its ‘counterbalancing’ depictions of her from far afield.

She lied in her first promise... certainly a Torah observant Hebrew woman who gave birth to Torah that became flesh wouldn’t contradict her son..
But a lying false witness has no reason to be truthful/biblically accurate.
My suggestion is stop publishing these first person promises and handing them out to people who test the spirits and proves all things with Scripture..
It is best to stick to handing these beads and instructions out to elementary school age children who like fairy tales...

No one can be faithful to SOMEONE ELSE’S promises because it is up to the person who made the promises to be faithful for them. You can only be faithful to your own promises. I guess this basic point of logic is unfamiliar to you?

No. Orthodox devotion to Mary is a point of unity. Those who embrace heresies - like Protestantism - have no interest in orthodox beliefs or practices and thus are not united to those who are.
Mary tells you to pray her rosary..
You are faithful to her.
YHWH tells you to obey His commandments and His Son says pray to your Father..
You can’t be faithful to Him if you are faithful to that lying Mary..
It explains why the ten commandments have been altered by the mother church..
And why revelation 13 explains a satanic trinity that will break and cause others to break His first four commandments..
And Protestantism is on the mother church’s foundation of sinking sand.
The Protestants just don’t realize they are really unified with the mother church..
And that isn’t a good place if biblical prophecy is understood in these end times..
Those promises she gave are unbiblical lies all the while the words in the rosary are biblical.

The mother church has ignored or hidden on their commandment stones the commandment against graven images/idols. I saw it with my own eyes at Boys Town commandment stones on their campus..
The mother church has been responsible for changing His commandments, changed His calendar that the whole world now uses and has caused His Sabbath to be hidden because of it..
Even jews have rejected His calendar for the pope Gregory calendar.. and it has caused them to accept the pope appointed sabbath for Jews, Saturn’s day..

It is why revelation 13 has the world worshipping the beast ( 1st commandment broken), the world worshipping the image (2nd commandment broken), the beast blaspheme Yah (3rd commandment broken) and cause all to take the mark of the beast so they cannot buy or sell), (4th commandment-remember the sabbath- do no work- neither buy or sell)
Nobody who reads revelation 13 can see it if they don’t have the same commandments that Exodus has in order.
I don’t expect a catholic to see it.. I doubt protestants will either.. and Jews accept the roman calendar in lieu of the biblical calendar so they won’t see it.

I just showed you it was in the catechism. So an honest man would admit that it is there for anyone to see. I also posted a link to an article showing that the Bible NEVER ONCE defines which number each commandment is. An honest man would admit that is the case.
The catechism also has Friday and Sunday as the days associated with the gospel of the death, burial and resurrection..
Those days are not biblical but Roman substitutes for Passover and First Fruits, which are biblical and found on our Heavenly Father’s calendar.
And based on the pope’s calendar, passover was a Monday this year... it would have made easter Sunday a Wednesday if we believe He rose the third day. (And it would also make that Wednesday the 1st day of that week- the day after His annual and weekly Sabbath (a Tuesday that month) on the 15th day, according to scripture)
See, Rome has changed the gospel plainly given by Paul to the Corinthians.. a gospel according to Rome and not according to scripture.
A different gospel that reflects Rome’s calendar and timekeeping- not our Heavenly Father’s..
If you don’t see that, you will never understand how times and laws are changed..
And I suspect your protestant brothers and sisters won’t see it either..
They accept Rome’s gospel account and not the biblical one Paul gives because Easter Sunday and every Sunday is a holy day for most Christians..
Kind of why Catholics call easter the Christian passover.. I am not sure protestants would disagree..
And whatever number you give them, according to revelation 13, it is specifically the commands in exodus that deal with ‘Worship’ that the satanic or unholy trinity are responsible for breaking and causing

Today is Monday. Are you disputing that?
Today is His 6th day according to His calendar in His sky and His Word. A work day according to His Word.
Tomorrow is His 7th day Sabbath, the 22nd day of His month. (The first Sabbath on the Exodus occurred on the 22nd day of His month after 6 days of manna (exodus 16)
So I dont accept today as the moon’s day or tomorrow being some god named Tiw’s day.
Those names are man made... not scriptural...
His calendar’s template is located plainly in Ezekiel 46 ( new moon day, six work days, seventh day Sabbath)
And He numbers them. Never named for created things or false gods like Tiw, woden, Thor, friya ( a simple Wikipedia search can show where the world’s calendar came up with their days)
It is a conscious choice to reject the world for His Word but it allows one to see how the world works on His Sabbath and rests on His work days. And w all have the choice.
Funny, every once in a while, Jews, Muslims and Christians will have their pope appointed sabbath day run into His.. the world’s calendar floats around His..
It shows how deceived the world is and how the enemy doesn’t just do work in one religion..
We can thank Him for what He made on His 6th day today and commemorate His Creative and Redemptive works through His Son..
Or we can call today Moon Day..
The world is not set up to follow His calendar. It is Kingdom based. the Savior followed it perfectly. Every major life event He had (birth, circumcision, dedication in temple, baptism, death, burial and resurrection) occurred on a New Moon, Sabbath or Feast- appointed days on His calendar.
New moon days are ignored each month but the Moon gets its day every week in the world. At least the English world.
It I because the world tells time only using 1/3 of the tools He gave us in His sky at creation for signs, appointed time, days, years( sun, moon and stars) genesis 1:14
If one studied the three together, they would see the gospel and plan of salvation was written in the heavens well before it was written on any parchment.
And the enemy can’t counterfeit those.. he can only cause his vessels to ignore them..
And that is why the world works tomorrow and Has calendar has it as His Sabbath..
The world works when He says to rest and rests when He says to work.. it seems we have allowed ourselves to have the last word instead of Him..
And the more one accepts the world, the less they will be able to see any of this.
Conformity to the world is dangerous. Not proving all things is dangerous..
There is much to overcome in this counterfeit world.. and praying for His Kingdom to come may not be what people conformed to this world would be ready for if they like their holy days and work days instead of His,.
But again, it is all about worship..
Worship Him who made heaven earth the seas and the fountains of water - revelation 14:7..
Or ignorantly name days and give honor to things He created or to false gods each and every day of our lives..
Our choice.
Shabbat shalom or tiw’s day..
Our choice.
