I have taken ten of the most believed or written about misconceptions about Catholics or the Church and debunked them (with evidence wherever possible).

I think even the most insane among the people that post on these religious threads will admit that Catholics are Christian.
I could be wrong about that though.
I had a priest tell me that since I wouldn’t pray to Mary, I was going to hell.
I believe that Catholics are Christian, but I also believe that many of them labor under legalistic burdens. Of course, that isn’t unique to Catholics as any Christian can fall prey to that.
He was dead wrong.
How do you know?
There have been many threads on FR about how Catholics need to leave the Catholic Church and become Christians.
I was told about 25 minutes ago that Catholics are not Christians.
I would pray to Mary, just to be on the safe side.
Because I know enough Catholic theology to know that praying to any particular saint, even Mary, is entirely optional. The Church highly recommends devotion to Mary, but it is not obligatory.
We ask for Mary’s prayers, we don’t pray to her. Prayer and worship is for God alone.
I had a room-mate who was an Evangelical Christian. In his eyes, if you aren’t ‘saved’, you’re destined to go to hell....this included Catholics.
That was very unChristian of them.
Thanks for posting this!
Did you?
Thnx!
Nope. Got so mad at him I refused to participate in the May processional we did to Mary. This caused one of the nuns to tell me I disappointed her and another one called me a heretic.
In all honesty, I see a conveyor belt of Catholic posts cheering themselves, and busting the chops of protestants all day long. It’s non stop. And inside those threads, someone sometimes shoves back.
But a stranger could be forgiven for believing they had stumbled into a Catholic website.
stupid, ignorant and arrogant..
“I had a room-mate who was an Evangelical Christian. In his eyes, if you arent saved, youre destined to go to hell....this included Catholics.”
And I have a few Catholic friends, who despite the position of the Vatican, insist that protestants are not Christians. That they are following a false doctrine.
Both points of view are very wrong. Many people in both religions belong to Christ. I do not see how this could even be in dispute. But like football teams, branches of Christianity have their die hard fans.
