You’re thinking of a long gone generation of Jesuits. While there are some exceptions, most modern Jesuits are not very well educated. Bergoglio may have gotten a good basic education, but he sure didn’t keep it up, and at the time he would have been in seminary, the “old stuff” was already being thrown out in favor of liberation theology, etc.

There is a huge group of non-Catholics/non-Christians among the Cardinals and the rest of the bishops.

Ya'll don't have a screening process for this??????

He is a stupid, wicked, shallow anarchist. A camera hound. A headline fiend.

You're trashing the "vicar" of Christ.....right?

So if he's wrong on all this stuff, why should we believe catholicism when he says anything??

I fail to see from your link how the Pope’s statements are in league with the Leftist Marxist agenda of Anthropomorphic Global Warming (AGW) now called ‘Climate Change’.

Of course we must be good stewards of the land and resources and in America we are doing a damn good job of it without any credit due to the loons in and behind the EPA.

Good Stewardship of land and resources is a conservative value.

And it was always so even before there was an EPA. The Left has taken the issue of environmental stewardship out of the hands of conservatives and turned it into a monster of their agenda while blaming conservatives for opposing their initiatives.

Have you ever been to China? If so, you would realize how polluted the air is there and how the sulfur in the air stings the eyes. It’s awful.

Also in South America there are places where environmental stewardship fails.

So in my book if the Pope wants to travel about telling people to “clean it up”, he will get no argument from me.

But the problem is the Leftist loons extrapolate humankind’s uncleanliness to human caused Climate Change, raising of sea levels, devastating typhoons, polar vortex repercussions. They have every intent of taxing the industrialized countries whereby they control the money.

And Leftists will tell the Pope that the Climate Change taxes they plan will be used to assist the poorer nations to which the Pope will give a nod. But the poorer nations will see not much if any benefit except to those with leaders who are sycophants of those that control the climate fund.

So in the end this is not about the climate but about who controls the money if it is ever raised from taxes on industrialized nations. And it is the responsibility of Catholics in-the-know to make sure the Pope understands that. I believe they will make the Pope understand that.

The Pope should adopt a view that ignores the Left’s true agenda and instead embraces a “Clean It Up” for the sake of the poor with particular attention focused on China.

Muslims have been trying to destroy Christianity since Islam was founded by the pedophile Muhammad. Francis is totally ignorant of the history of Christianity and Islam.

Since it can’t be dis-proven it has to be accepted as a matter of faith!

How anyone who acknowledges the Divine Creator can accept that we have the power to destroy His work merely by virtue of our existence is beyond me.

Papal infallibility is a dogma of the Catholic Church that states that, in virtue of the promise of Jesus to Peter, the Pope is preserved from the possibility of error

There's your problem. This was made up out of whole cloth. With the exception of Christ, anyone who believes in the infallibility of ANY human in ANY regard believes an utter lie. Perhaps this pope was installed by God in order to destroy the lie that is the Catholic church.

The Pope has an obligation to deal with the spiritual world and he needs to render onto Caesar ... It's pride that's making him feel he's King of the World... he's not. The World's not his realm.

I have reported abuse on your post #46.

You have been a FR member since the beginning and claim to be a Catholic priest. Yet you have violated the long-time FR copyright rules by copying and posting the entire article at #46. Postings from “The Guardian” are required to be excerpted in the initial post and not in their entirety in the comments in an attempt to get around that prohibition.

Can someone explain the reason for this? Isn’t it understood that when one posts an article that it is understood that the words are from an article and they are not to be taken as one’s own ideas?

I was totally unaware of that restriction.

I did not post the article to get around the restriction. I posted it because a particular FReeper said that he had tried ten times to read the article, and that his browser had crashed ten times.

How are FReepers supposed to be aware of such restrictions?

I have reported you for harassing me with a false accusation.

I posted the material for a particular FReeper who said he had tried to access the original article ten times, and had a browser crash ten times.

Absolutely nothing to do with trying to evade some copyright restriction.

My being a priest has no conceivable connection with this issue, which leads me to think that you are an anti-Catholic bigot interested in harassing a priest. So I’m reporting you for that, too.

Since the dogma of Papal Infallibility has absolutely nothing to do with scientific questions, nothing the Pope may say in this arena has any bearing on the faith of any Catholic.

All informed Catholics know that the Pope is capable of making stupid statements about science or economics all day long, and it has nothing to do with “Papal Infallibility.”

I didn’t say that. I said he can be “as stupid and destructive” as he likes, and remain Pope. I didn’t say he can be a non-Catholic.

This Pope has proven himself stupid, destructive, and vindictive. He has given signs of being a heretic.

But for actual sedevacantism to be justified, I think it’s prudent to wait for some FORMAL ACT promoting heresy.

If the Pope manipulates the Synod next year into FORMALLY and EXPLICITLY approving Communion for adulterers, then I would have no argument against sedevacantism.
