Pope Francis’s edict on climate change will anger deniers and US churches
The Guardian ^ | December 27, 2014 | John Vidal

He has been called the “superman pope”, and it would be hard to deny that Pope Francis has had a good December. Cited by President Barack Obama as a key player in the thawing relations between the US and Cuba, the Argentinian pontiff followed that by lecturing his cardinals on the need to clean up Vatican politics. But can Francis achieve a feat that has so far eluded secular powers and inspire decisive action on climate change? It looks as if he will give it a go.

Worldwide legalized abortion did not exist in Pope Pius XXII’s time.

Try again.

francis is a commie .... pope or not
when he talks on climate change he is a mere mortal expressing an opinion
it is only in church matters that he is “infalible”

so frankie..... keep your LIBTARD OPINIONS to yourself...
dont confuse the illiterate masses, and by the way if the vatican invested in climate change along with the british royals nad the us commies... gore, obama, clinton, warren, et al..
thanks

But according to your Post #3 above, you seem more concerned about trees and melting icebergs.

“Worldwide legalized abortion did not exist in Pope Pius XXII’s time.”

Ohhhhhh so it has to be “worldwide legalized abortion” before a pope can condemn it in a encyclical about only that sin??? Well, I got news for you bud, you’re still wrong: http://reproductiverights.org/sites/crr.civicactions.net/files/documents/AbortionMap_Factsheet_2013.pdf

This is why a person should always know what he’s talking about before he posts.

“Try again.”

No, you try again because I got all my facts straight.

Now, where is the encyclical condemning ONLY abortion from Popes Pius XII, Pope John XXIII, Pope Paul VI, Pope John Paul I, Pope John Paul II, or Pope Benedict XVI?

WHERE ARE THEY?

“But according to your Post #3 above, you seem more concerned about trees and melting icebergs.”

Really? Where have I EVER mentioned any concern at all for “trees and melting icebergs”?

Here is what I posted:

“Awesome. Let him do that instead of everything else. Don’t tell me the Holy Spirit isn’t protecting the Church one way or another. I can make it another decade. Pope Francis knows he can’t.”

That’s the whole post. Show me where I “seem more concerned about trees and melting icebergs” in that post. Seriously, show me.

Speaking not merely outside his expertise (I think his expertise is in Spanish poetry or something like that), but outside his authority as a bishop and Pope.

It is objectionable that he is promoting the Global Warming Hoax, which is part of a vast scheme to further impoverish and murder hundreds of millions of “the poor” that the Pope professes to care about.

Worst Pope in several centuries.

That makes two of us. Though I don’t count because I’ve ‘fallen away’ now.

The church left me.

Which is of no matter, as the church is the work of men.

Who mentioned “encyclical”?

I’m sorry that you, like Francis, have fallen for the “global warming” or is that “climate change” hoax.

To me, it shows a lack of faith in the omnipotence of God.

The Pope acts like a Peronista’...

...a follower of left leaning Juan Perón...a commie light. He started the class warfare that still plagues Argentina today. Nationalized industry that drove off foreign investment...rob the rich give to the poor.

You wrote:

So you’re now saying that - unlike everyone else in the thread - you didn’t recognize “Awesome” as sarcasm? You are apparently the only one. Why is that?

Also, where in those two sentences do you see me mention either trees or melting icebergs?

all Christians need to realize that in the end times we will come under attack... that means all Christians have to realize that in the last days many of our leaders will become “false”.. if you will, little mirrors of the “Antichrist”.

Catholics just need to understand like other Christians need to understand these false leaders will come in place in ALL OUR denominations

you mentioned Benedict stepping down with is so so unusual I think it’s almost as if God wanted to leave a true Pope alive while allowing what must happen to happen...

We are seeing strange thing... read the seasons...

really if you’re denominations is not being attacked you weren’t doing it right in the first place

“The Pope basically said Che Guevara was his hero.”

A rabbi made the reference to Che. It isn’t even clear that Pope Francis ever said anything about him from that article.

“I am trying to be as optimistic as you....I am generally a very optimistic person....I am struggling with a lot of what is going on in the Church right now.”

Don’t be optimistic. I’m not. I’m hopeful. Hope is about Christ. Optimism is about the French Enlightenment. I’ll stick with Christ. He never fails. We just often fail to see what He’s doing.

“I think his expertise is in Spanish poetry or something like that”

He has a diploma as a chemical technician. That was before he entered the Jesuits.

"...instead of everything else. Don’t tell me the Holy Spirit isn’t protecting the Church one way or another."

Why would anyone reading this thread think you were being sarcastic? Or are you invoking God's name in vain to be sarcastic?
