Lord, we pray for the men and women in our military, that Your peace would keep and comfort them even as they fight this nations battles.
Father, we pray a blessing on Your church; may this be a time of encouragement and peace to Your children wherever they are, whatever their circumstances.
Lord Jesus Christ, two thousand years ago You were born in a lowly stable, and even on that long-ago day, You were Ancient of Days. From the beginning, You are the Word the Word who is with God, the Word who is God. Through You all things were made; without You nothing was made that has been made. And You, mighty Creator, became a baby, became flesh and made Your dwelling among us. You showed us Your glory the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. In You is life, and that life is the light of men. The light shines in the darkness the light that dawned in Bethlehem, that light that blazes still over all the weary world. We praise You, Lord of the ages, for coming in humility to bring a great salvation and an unquenchable light, in the Name of Jesus, Amen.
Come and pray.
Amen!
Amen.
Amen to your beautiful prayer, Irish Rose. And I love the scriptures you chose. Merry Christmas to you!
One of my favorite collections of photos is of a family dinner. Preserved in an album are images of Dad, his sons and their wives, and his grandchildren in a time of thanks-giving and intercession.
Dad had suffered a series of strokes and was not as verbal as usual. But during that time of prayer, I heard him say with heartfelt conviction: We pray in Jesus name! About a year later, Dad passed from this world into the presence of the One in whose name he placed such trust.
Jesus taught us to pray in His name. The night before He was crucified, He gave a promise to His disciples: Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full (John 16:24). But the promise of asking in Jesus name is not a blank check that we might get anything to fulfill our personal whims.
Earlier that evening, Jesus taught that He answers requests made in His name so that He will bring glory to the Father (John 14:13). And later that night, Jesus Himself prayed in anguish, O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will (Matt. 26:39).
As we pray, we yield to Gods wisdom, love, and sovereignty, and we confidently ask in Jesus name.
Joining You in prayer for Our American Heroes and For Our Nation!
