The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not mans standard.

Catholics are proud of Mary. They hand out an instruction book on how to pray the rosary with the beads (at least the ones I received)
Their Mary gave promises for praying the rosary and is quoted in the instruction book.
Their Mary can be proven, with scripture, to be lying in those promises..
Problem - their lying Mary points to the same Jesus non catholics worship.
Do Catholics have a different Mary and Jesus?

Whenever anyone asks Is [insert-Christian-practice-or-doctrine-existing-from-the-Apostolic-age-here] Biblical? You can be certain the author is going to conclude that the answer is No. Its never an interesting question. Is calling Jesus the Only Son of God Biblical?
Your answer???

As a former Catholic, I agree with you. It appears this post has an intention to hurt those who are committed to their Catholic faith. Please don't let it. Heaven awaits all who have the belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The rest is just argument for those wishing to debate the lesser issues. Nothing separates us from the love of God that comes to us through the Lord, Jesus Christ. Jesus won't ever let us go, no matter what. Catholics and protestants will share heaven.
Freedum, please forgive the ignorance of those who have no idea of the hurt they inflict on others with these debates. We have been far too hard on each other. I thank God that He looks on the heart of those who believe.

What do you care what Catholics believe?
- and please, don’t give me some hogwash about “ caring about my soul “.
Just answer the question: why do what we believe matter to you at all?

The tenor of your argument is combative, so Ill skip trying to convince you using scripture - especially Luke 1 (the entire chapter, since that is where the Hail, Mary comes from) or John 1:1-12 (especially verse 5 - to which all scripture can be reduced). Luke 1 is about Jesus. The "Hail Mary" prayer is based on a poor translation of the Vulgate used by DR.
John 1...especially v5 is about Jesus.
I regret you feel comparing catholicism with the Word is combative.
We honor the truth when we follow the greatest commandment....love the Lord God with all your heart.....
We would do well to follow the angel's command to John in Revelation 22 when John fell down before the angel to worship him......Do not do that......Worship God.

True. I keep wondering about what Jesus is thinking when somebody disses his momma. Jesus dissed his own momma. Read Matthew 12:46-50.

I care about your soul, I really do. Christ tells us the truth will set us free. We ALL fall victim to deception as it is the devil’s perfect tool to keep us separate from God. I pray others will tell me the truth and keep me on the right path.

Hmmmm....Can you find the word, Trinity in the Bible? Elohim is the Hebrew word for God. It is in the plural form.
Can you find the word pope in the Bible? indulgences? transubstantiation?

In the case of Mary, we pray to her both out of respect and also to ask her, essentially, to put in a good word for us with her Son.
We also pray to other persons we consider to be holy (that’s not the word I want to use, but I can’t think of the word I want right now) asking that they intercede on our behalf. Sometimes they do, and when they do miracles occur. When that happens we recognize them as Saints.

You care about my soul? Yes, of course you do.
The classic line for every Catholic hating Protestant out there.
Do me and every Catholic on FR and in America a favor: Leave us alone.

Based solely on the title your article fails the honesty test, as you deliberately lump to together three things as one, including something Catholics do not do, ie worship Mary.
As a former Catholic who saw it firsthand, it's worship.

I used catholic definitions and compared them to the Bible. The catholic position came up lacking.

This thread was posted for the sole purpose of causing controversy on FR. It is nothing more than a Catholic bashing and Protestant bashing thread. It is unnecessary and frankly, it makes FR look very foolish.
