Is Prayer/Veneration/Worship to Mary Biblical?
self | 12-14-14 | ealgeone

The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not man’s standard.

By that interpretation you must also hold that the majority on FR RF is continually guilty of the body and blood of the LORD Jesus Christ every single day of the day, week, month, and year. Since these are sins unto death, we should expect the deaths of many souls, should that interpretation you propose be true.

It is an interesting speculation, but as I am neither God, nor one of the twelve, my personal opinion about what should be happening in that respect is irrelevant, and I am happy to have it that way. I do note that Ananias and Sapphira were also subject to capital punishment for lying to the Holy Spirit, which also now seems to be something not happening. That it did happen under the apostles but does not happen now is probably significant, but again, it is an unwholesome speculation.  We have the Scriptures and within them the examples God wanted us to have, and that's what we should use.  Better to avoid the problem altogether by loving each other as we should.  But I have no doubt as I view these pages that "the Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. "

Peace,

SR

Catholics usually only ask questions, they don’t answer them.

Or in most cases, do not back up their statements with Godly wisdom found in the Bible.

You will probably get a question in reply.

Is seems the handlers of Catholics teach the same evasive tactics that the Mormons teach, answer the question they SHOULD have asked, not the one they did ask.

they call "Protestants" - which, according to a few here is ANYONE who isn't a Roman Catholic but who is a Christian

Never met such an illiterate Catholic. The Catholic church is, first, consisting of Churches other than Roman Catholic and secondly, Catholic a generally very toward the Eastern Orthodox and find little to nothing to disagree with them theologically.

Do you want me to personally introduce you to a few here? They have said those words exactly.

I was just going to reply to that post.

It took me days and days to convince one Catholic that there were other Christians besides Protestants.

And that I wasn't a Protestant.

He still believed all who are not Catholic are Protestant.

One poster even denied that the Christians that are neither Catholic or Protestant are huge in number.

I've know literally hundreds and hundreds of Christians that are simply born again Christians, mostly becoming so by seeing the simple scriptures that show how to be a part of the Kingdom of God through a personal relationship with Jesus.

It's a good thing that those that are not believers cannot understand the Bible past the scriptures that lead to salvation.

Keeps them focused.

Sure did me.

Oh and annalex, I could not interpret the longer sentence you posted:

The Catholic church is, first, consisting of Churches other than Roman Catholic and secondly, Catholic a generally very toward the Eastern Orthodox and find little to nothing to disagree with them theologically.

Especially the bolded part

Metmom, you didn’t really challenge af_vet, did you?????talk about going into battle totally unarmed!!!!!

How much ammo do you think it takes to challenge a strawman?! But, seeing as you put in your 2¢ worth on this topic, do you also think women Freepers should just shut up about Religion Forum topics and submit to whatever a Freeper male asserts whether they agree with him or not?

Here's a thought...let's ask a few Catholic lady Freepers what they think about this. Any comments, ladies?

I enjoy reading posts from both of you. I do not care what anyone else thinks of that. I listen anyway.

The Inquisitions certainly are a worthy subject, though often the numbers can be inflated

I guess it is like trying to figure out how many people did Stalin have murdered. The answer is, we really don't know, and never will. That there were a substantial number killed in the Inquisitions, is true. No one knows how many. I do not hold present day people responsible for things that happened hundreds of years before they were born, any more than present day whites are responsible for slavery. They are not. I did not study about it much, but I thought the Spanish Inquisition was the only one. Not true. There were a number of them, over hundreds of years. My feelling however, is that in the tribulation period, the Inquisitions will be like Sunday school, compared to the end times killings.

Roger that. How is life down under? I am just a tad north of you, actually, a little more than a tad, but north of you nonetheless.

It's real warm here and the last 4 days the state's been battling a huge bushfire a little east of where I am.Daughter and family spent sat night here as they had to evacuate ahead of the fire. They're safely home now but the fire is still going strong.

These threads are quite enlightening yes?

Enjoying your posts btw.Appreciate the candor,it's refreshing.

and just because I can....

" "Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name. And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him." (Malachi 3:16)

God bless!

Tempting as this is, I’m going to do my nerves and my diet a favor and let it go.

Happy New Year!

I’m never unarmed.

I have the sword of the Spirit.

Not to mention the full armor of God. The belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, your feet shod with the Gospel of peace, the shield of faith and the helmet of salvation.

Does that about sum it up?

Believe it or not, there are actually people posting here that claim that when Jesus SAID...."THIS IS MY BODY"..He didn't really mean it....Can you believe that???.... AMAZING!!!!!

Matthew 23:33
"You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?

Mark 7:26-27
 26.  The woman was a Greek, born in Syrian Phoenicia. She begged Jesus to drive the demon out of her daughter.
 27.  "First let the children eat all they want," he told her, "for it is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their dogs."

John 6:28-29

Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”

Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”

Could you get this point across to some of your fellow FR Catholics?

They seem to be quite rabid in their belief that I am NOT!

I am speaking of offending the Lord by treating members of His body with cruel disregard.

Galatians 5:15
But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.

This section of the Catechism. I was wondering if you are in agreement with the following paragraphs or if there are parts of it with which you disagree.

This thread is FULL of EVIDENCE that Catholicism PRACTICES a LOT more than it preaches.

Are you in full agreement with the extraneous stuff?

unless that class were conducted under the auspices of the Catholic Church....it would be meaningless to anyone.

At least Balaam's ride was a LOT more humble than you appear to be.
