Is Prayer/Veneration/Worship to Mary Biblical?

The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not man’s standard.

And Catholics get accused of quoting Scripture for their own purposes...

Yet, no Christian on these boards has accused RCs of rightly dividing the Word of God.

In fact, RC's use of Scripture on FR RF is used more as a deflective shield against honest conversation.

And it is obvious the poster meant an IMAGE of Mary, the mother of Jesus. Requires honesty, not discernment to admit that.

>>‘We will certainly carry out the vows we made to burn incense and pour out drink offerings to the Queen of Heaven.’<<

And that is still exactly what Catholics say today.

YOUR COMMENT: “Because GOD didn’t put Mary there. The Catholic church did.”

Your opinion, but God clearly stated in Luke Chapter 1 that Mary was Blessed by God. Everything that Mary has done was for the Glory of God. I really hope and pray that everyone will change their disrespectful attitude towards the Blessed Mother that is aimed at Catholics and the Catholic Church.

Shouldn’t we be more concerned with the sins of mankind that continue to bring evil into our lives and try to help others to lead a Christ-like life?

Technically, this phrase in Luke 1:42 is a comparative, but when you have a comparative where one party is an individual and the other party is everybody else, it ends up with the force of a superlative. If Mary is more blessed than other women, then she is the most blessed of all women. It’s a grammatical comparative with the force of a superlative.

You may be asking yourself, “Why is this important?” For some reason, most Catholic apologists simply point out that Mary was the most blessed of all women and they never tell the reader what bearing that has upon the dogma of the Immaculate Conception. I think the answer is found once we examine why it is that Elizabeth called Mary, “blessed among women.”

The obvious reason, of course, is because Mary, out of all the women who have ever lived, was chosen to be the mother of our Lord. That certainly makes her the most blessed woman there ever was. But, I think there is also another reason. After all, Mary said of herself, “henceforth all generations will call me blessed” (Luke 1:48). Why? “for he who is mighty has done great things [plural] for me” (Luke 1:49). Her unique motherhood would only be one thing. So, what else has God done in her life that has made her more blessed than any other woman?

I think that something else is the unparalleled divine favor, or grace, that He has given her. Within the context of the account of the Annunciation and the Visitation, the Incarnation and her miraculous motherhood is ever present. But, her very real gracefulness is there too. “Hail, O favored one” [or “full of grace”] (Luke 1:28); “you have found favor with God” (Luke 1:30); “My soul magnifies the Lord” (Luke 1:46).

Why else did God choose her above all other women to be the mother of our Lord? What was it about this particular woman that made her suited for the task? Only Catholics have an answer to that question, and we believe that it is found in the words of the angel. The Holy Spirit overshadowed her and caused our Savior to be conceived within her because God had already prepared her for motherhood by filling her with his grace. Thus, she is “blessed among women” not just in her motherhood but in the preparation for motherhood that she received.

Another question is...

Has Elsie ever thrown the caber at the Highland Games and how far?

That could be of importance in determining how far he can throw one of these pesky RC's.

And I hope one day you RCs all give 100% worship and praise to God and God alone. There is NONE other.

Wow! That was typical twisting of scripture. No where in scripture is Mary described as "full of grace". In fact, the older Greek manuscripts don't include the phrase "blessed art thou among women". The "full of grace" phrase was a corruption by Jerome in the Latin Vulgate. All versions which are translated from the original Greek do not have it.

You are asking me to "reasonably and sensibly" explain a miracle. The Holy Mass is a window opened through time where we are transported to the foot of the Cross where we become present at the Sacrifice of Christ completed His glorious resurrection. This encounter with Christ visibly takes form as drinking His blood and eating His flesh, and it is giving us eternal life. In this form, the redemption wrought by Him is applied to our souls. At this moment a communion occurs: we come in the company of Christ, John the Baptist, Mary, the Holy Apostles and all the saints, and the congregation of all the faithful and we celebrate together.

For my flesh is meat indeed: and my blood is drink indeed. [57] He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, abideth in me, and I in him. [58] As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father; so he that eateth me, the same also shall live by me. [59] This is the bread that came down from heaven. Not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead. He that eateth this bread, shall live for ever. (John 6:56-59, your verse numbering is probably off by 1)

Mary is the Mother of God. That is not my opinion but a biblical fact. Deal with it.

Why the need for repetitions?

The Mass is repeated as a physical celebration, not the sacrifice that we are transported to. It is repeated due to our weaknesses: as physical food needs to be taken every day so, too,m the Mass ideally is attended every day. How often do you read (I assume) the Bible? Why the repetition?

Thank you for providing the context so that I may better apprehend some of your earlier posts.

A Roman Catholic Church Holy Mass, then, is time travel to the actual moment of Jesus' death on the Roman cross.

Bible notes Noah got drunk

That is not a sin. Jesus got quite a few people drunk.

John understood the world was full of sinners

It is full of sinners. That is why John came and then Christ. No one argued otherwise.

Mary understood she needed a Savior

Mary indeed needed a Savior; ;this is Who prevented her from all sin.

kiddies are sinners

No. Sin is willful violation of a divine law understood by the sinner to exist. A young child, before about 7 years old, does not know the law and is not capable of free will.

no one can come to Me, unless it has been granted him from the Father

The role of Mary is to lead one to Christ and that is so because the Father wills it to be so. You are imagining the Father resisting Mary's prayers? Why would he do that?

Several times a day. Usually NKJV. Because I want to remember what I may have forgotten about the Lord Jesus Christ and what He has done for me and all who believe in Him alone as the only Savior of mankind.
