"Christian unity" is one of those terms that stir up a whole spectrum ofsometimes emotionalopinions.
On the one hand, we know that Jesus prayed to the Father concerning future believers "that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you" (John 17:21a, NIV).
On the other hand, charismatics know it is almost pointless to discuss the gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 12, 14) with Baptists or most anyone else from a mainline denomination. And Protestants of just about any stripe get riled up when they hear Catholics talking about papal infallibility or their adoration of the Virgin Mary.
It's on this latter point that Rick Warren, senior pastor of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California, and successful author, has waded into a hornet's nest of controversy by telling a Catholic News Service interviewer that Protestants and Catholics "have far more in common than what divides us" and that Catholics do not "worship Mary like she's another god."
Regarding Warren's view that Catholics do not worship Mary, Matt Slick, writing on the website of the Christian Apologetics & Research Ministry, goes into great detail with material from Roman Catholic sources that say Mary is "the all holy one," is to be prayed to, worshipped, that she "brings us the gifts of eternal life" and she "made atonement for the sins of man."
If that's not putting her in the place of Christ as a god-like figure to be worshipped, then what is it?
"We believe in Trinity, the Bible, the resurrection, and that salvation is through Jesus Christ. These are the big issues," Warren says. "But the most important thing is if you love Jesus, we're on the same team."
To Warren's point about being on the same team, Slick.....

Mary, mother of God denies the humanity of Jesus and the incarnation.
It makes her mother of deity, GOD, as it states.
It says nothing about Jesus because in the title *mother of God* Jesus isn’t even mentioned. The entire focus is on Mary and who she is.
The Holy Spirit named her *mother of Jesus* not *mother of God*.
Tell me, did the Holy Spirit make a mistake when He did this in Scripture?
Was He wrong or inaccurate in doing that?
Why does the Catholic church feel the need to correct the work of the Holy Spirit?
What kind of chutzpah is that?
Once again. God recorded in scripture the assumption of Elijah. Not that important to believers today. God never had recorded the assumption of Mary which Catholics hold as a mandatory belief. The Holy Spirit inspired the writing of many incidents and happenings but not one reference to the end of Mary. Rather telling I would suggest.
OK, using YOUR logic, ....
If Mary is the mother of God.
And God is the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Mary is mother of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
*Mother of God* means *mother of God the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.*
Yeah. But I don’t even though I can.
Do you mean if one quotes the scripture about Nicodemus, etc., one is demonstrating he himself is born again and led of the Spirit ? Or is being antiCatholic and mocking Catholics as being in a cult a required prerequisite ?
Does that demonstrate one is born again and walking in the Spirit ?
Luke 11:28 But he said, Yea rather (menounge), blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
Greek menounge - rather, on the contrary
Jesus said that those who here the word of God and obey were more blessed than Mary. Only Jesus and Stephen were described by the Holy Spirit in scripture as "full of grace". Catholics should take a hint.
Or reading comprehension. Or more likely “blinded by God”.
“But...I’m not a Protestant, vlad...honest.”
There are several possibilities - and these are the only possibilities in this matter:
1) Catholic
2) Eastern Orthodox
3) Non-Chalcedonian Orthodox
4) Protestant
Is it any wonder Catholics have to resort to double speak?
“And you just didn’t, vlad?”
Did I?
“Pray to a mod for help if you need it.”
Pray to God He helps you.
We can see that it has been unofficially adopted by your religion...
That’s not “my logic.” It’s totally invalid.
Your “logic” is the following:
Helen is the mother of a fireman.
Sam, Joe, and Herbert are firemen.
Helen is the mother of Sam, Joe, and Herbert.
You still have not answered the two yes-or-no questions in my previous post.
We are told to correct errors we see those who call themselves Christians promoting.
And it's obvious to me that Catholics will defend Mary more than they will the supremacy of Jesus.
