Based on the numbers of denominations, sects and cults professing adherence to Christianity, it is not really surprising that there are wide margins of difference in how these different groups understand and interpret the Bible. Within Protestantism, there is still much theological debate and confusion around doctrines and principles especially those not considered central or cardinal to the Christian faith. And even within mainstream church affiliations that hold fast to the central doctrines of Christianity, there is still considerable confusion and disagreement within church laity with regards to the understanding and interpretation of Biblical doctrine.

There is no way that the percentages in the article are from Evangelical Christians alone. They are clearly the broad-based numbers from the total respondents.
This writer needs to rewrite the article and submit it to someone who knows how to write before posting it.
It most certainly does and it was to be able to avoid the teaching of those trying to deceive. That fact that the Catholic Church promotes the concept that people can't understand scripture without them is indicative of someone trying to deceive.
1 John 2:26 These things I have written to you concerning those who are trying to deceive you. 27As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.
Thank you for the scripture for that, as I am having busy day...so many objections to what I say today.
Now please show scripture where it says "doctrine via the Holy Spirit teaching through His Church".
Your welcome. Been there done that. The Catholics continue to deny what scripture says while promoting “another gospel” taught by the Catholic Church. They put the Catholic Church before the Holy Spirit thus making it their god as you pointed out. “Thou shalt have no other Gods before me” is appropriate in that case.
Here are more that Catholics need to read.

How much of Jesus' teaching was not, at first, written down? A LOT:
John 21:25How much of that is the Holy Spirit going to teach us? ALL OF IT.
Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.
John 14:26
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
Is it's God's intent that we should learn from the Church?
Ephesians 3:10
His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known
Does Christ's Church have the authority to do this teaching?
1 Corinthians 12:28
And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues.
How does St. Paul describe the teaching authority of the Church?
1 Timothy 3:15
"...the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth."
This I know. For the Bible tells me so.
Tagline
No doubt its time for evangelicals and all other professing Christians to heed seriously the instructions so clearly laid out in the scriptures for every Christian to follow.
Not so. Here's what the Catholic Church says about that:
Catechism of the Catholic Church, para. 819
"Furthermore, many elements of sanctification and of truth" are found outside the visible confines of the Catholic Church: "the written Word of God; the life of grace; faith, hope, and charity, with the other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as visible elements." Christ's Spirit uses these Churches and ecclesial communities as means of salvation..."
“Read the end of the article.”
Then POST the end of the article. Otherwise it’s clickbait, as the title indicates it’s yet another Protestant-bashing thread.
My point was that the Catholic Church knows and teaches that elements of sanctification and truth are found outside the walls of the Catholic Church. This unites people to the Catholic Church since the Church is the Body of Christ, and His Body is one: it is not torn apart.
I am happy that you read the context and I would only advise you, in a friendly way, to read more. Since we --- all who love the Lord --- are Brothers and Sisters in Christ.

Of the surveys initial 3,000 responses, this report looked at the 557 who came from Protestants who described themselves as evangelicalwhich would be about 19% of the American population. The online survey was commissioned by Orlando-based Ligonier Ministries and was intended to take the temperature of Americas theological health. The poll has a margin of error of +1.8 % with a confidence interval of 95 %.
About 4 in 10 (42 %) Americansand more than half (55 %) of non-Christianssay churches should remain silent about politics.
Less than half (48 %) of Americans say sex outside of marriage is a sin. Christian groups are split on the topic.
About 7 in 10 (71 %) Americans believe in the Trinity (one God exists as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). However, more than half of evangelicals (59 %) and two-thirds of Americans (64 %) say the Holy Spirit is a force not a personal being (despite scripture clearly referring to He and Him, as the third Person of the Godhead, and not it).
I have never heard of an Evangelical denying the Trinity...I don't believe it... What kind of phoney baloney survey is this??? This is a survey of people in general...Religious and not religious but the title tries to convince people it is a survey of Evangelicals...A bunch of trash put out by the Catholic religion...
There is no legitimate development of doctrine outside of the scriptures...
Mar_12:38 And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,
Your religion changed that doctrine, didn't it???
Rom_6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
Rom_16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
1Ti_1:3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
Jud 1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
The bible has all the doctrine there ever will be...
The development of doctrine cannot be something that negates or contradicts Scripture, since the Holy Spirit is both the Author of Scripture and the Author of the development of doctrine in the Church:
John 16:13
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
