The term fundamentalist is a pejorative term today, used to label someone the speaker believes is an irrational religious extremist of some kind.
But a hundred years ago, the term was taken as a badge of honor by theologically conservative Protestants to distinguish themselves from liberal Protestantism. While liberal Protestants in mainline denominations were denying basic Christian teachings like the authority of the Bible and the bodily resurrection of Jesus, conservative Protestants called for going back to the fundamentals of the faith hence the term.
There are obviously a lot of issues on which Catholics and fundamentalists disagree, but there are a few important issues for which fundamentalists take a lot of heat in our culture that Catholics actually agree with them on or at least are supposed to. Unfortunately, in my experience many Catholics afraid to have themselves labeled a fundamentalist can throw the baby out with the bath water and end up denying beliefs espoused by fundamentalists that are also taught by the Catholic Church.
Here are 5 things that are already present in the Catholic faith, but that Catholics could learn from their fundamentalist brothers and sisters to take more seriously:

A Study in Scarlet?
It appears that Rome's Mary was not a very good Christian!
I see...drop out of warp, fire a few photon torpedoes and warp out.
Elsie,
It led me to question everything..
And amazingly we all meet Him as Jesus, but He didn’t let me stay there..that may not make sense to catholics or protestants.
The name Jesus, December 25, sunday and specifically easter Sunday were as ‘given’ for me as they were for that catholic..
Praise Yah with study and asking, seeking and knocking, the name jesus , December 25, sunday and easter Sunday can be explained away as greco roman latin counterfeits..
It helps to reject the pope gregory calendar as a counterfeit but that is protestant to the extreme.. rejecting the world is biblical but it isn’t practical for people who have to make a living by the world’s system.
It requires a choice..
Amazing how far He has led me out of the world, including religion.
True freedom!
I can now say Rome has not authority over my work or worship life..
And I couldn’t two years ago. I didn’t know I was enslaved.. I thought I was free back then. Completely blinded..
Most don't!
Some are getting the idea; but that river in Egypt is a long, long stream.
“I see...drop out of warp, fire a few photon torpedoes and warp out.”
More like put my hat on my cane, raise it up to see if anyone shoots at it, then heave a heavy sigh at the response.
try to be clearer that you were not being critical of my minister.
Clearer than, Your minister may be a great scholar, for all I know ? Thats what I wrote, you know. How much clearer than that does one need to be?
I have over 200 books on my iPad and have read every one of them and have read most multiple times.
In the early 1970s, before my memory failed, I counted up the *absolute minimum* number of books I had read. As of that date, it was in excess of 3,000. Books. I didnt include magazines or newspapers. And I never stopped reading. I consider myself to be moderately well read.
If I counted the books I have read since junior high school, it would probably be in the thousands. When I was in junior -high school, I was a student librarian. That meant we had first choices on new books. I took full advantage of that perp. My daughter and 3 of her cousins got together in DC a few years ago. They were all talking about bad things their parents did. The only thing they could come up with about me was that I always had a book in my hands. I do not consider that a bad thing. I do not understand why people do not like to read. When I was young, it was The Bobbsey Twins, Honey Bunch, Nancy Drew, Tom Swift, Hardy Boys, Trixie Belden, Chip Hilton, Cherry Ames, Grace Livingston Hill, etc. I loved to read biographies and they had an orange book cover. I even loved Beowulf, etc. Nowadays, they include William W. Johnstone, J.A. Johnstone, Lee Child, Archer Mayor, Dale Evans, and many more. Reading was the main reason I was so concerned about my recent eye surgery. Many prayers were answered when it was successful. I do enjoy my iPad so I can adjust print size.
basically yes.
no they didn't, in fact, until the scriptures and teachings and letters etc. were compiled into a book (Bible) all of religion was basically tradition...what the Apostles said and what they did was indeed the way that Christianity was spread.
I asked first.
now there's proof for you, why didn't I think of that...that settles it alright!!
Dang!
What took you guys so long?
See how screwed up them 7 churches in Asia were!!
Apostle speech's and tradition's results appear to have been WORSE than useful!
That DOES it Mary!
I’m getting you a handmaiden!
After all; our forefathers wives had them; and here we are today...
“Reading was the main reason I was so concerned about my recent eye surgery.”
Maybe that has something to do with your practice of accusing people of writing that which they didn’t.
Mister, what is your problem? I fell and tore 2 right eye muscles. This past year has not been any fun at all. I was seeing double which caused me to be nauseated all of the time. I did have a brain MRI and my dr said I did have a brain and nothing was wrong with it. : ) I also had an EKG which showed I had a heart and it was great. : ). Now, I am waiting for my eye to completely heal.
“Mister, what is your problem?”
Your insults. Your false witness. If you can’t converse rationally, then leave me alone.
I do not think she is CATHOLIC.
HMMMmmm...
