I Knew a Priest Who Could See the Dead
ChurchPOP ^ | 2014 | Fr. Dwight Longenecker

Posted on 10/25/2014 9:19:13 AM PDT by millegan

I’ll call him Fr. John. He was a charismatic Anglo Catholic priest.

A friend of my brother Daryl’s we’ll call Henry died suddenly in a plane crash and he was upset because although Henry was a believer he was away from God when he died.

So Fr. John said, “We have to have a requiem Mass for Henry.”

They went into church and locked the door for privacy’s sake. Another priest we’ll call Fr. George celebrated the Mass.

Henry was about twenty years old. He was just over five foot tall with a shock of blonde hair and a wide face with freckles.

There isn’t even an assumption that you won’t repeat that sin. Easy.

If you curse, you just say “Sorry, Lord.” And you are forgiven. No confession, no penance. Just: “Sorry, Lord.”

Romans 5:20-21

The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 6:1-4

What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

If you loved Him you would know His word. I wish Catholics would turn away from detestable practices and seek Him alone.

So now they are all saints? Not just those specifically declared saints? Or are there “special” saints?

“Do Catholics have “relics” in the form of severed body parts and dessicated skulls? A “yes” or “no” will suffice.”

I really don’t care what suffices for you.

If Catholics insist on playing with dead things they at least ought to be able to admit it. Of course if they aren’t able to give testimony to the benefits of these practices that tells of the value of these detestable practices.

“So now they are all saints?”

When were saints not called saints?

“Not just those specifically declared saints?”

Saints are saints. They’ve never been called anything else.

“Or are there “special” saints?”

Special saints?

“If Catholics insist on playing with dead things they at least ought to be able to admit it.”

If Protestant bigots insist on making things up, they at least ought to be able to admit it.

“Of course if they aren’t able to give testimony to the benefits of these practices that tells of the value of these detestable practices.”

Or maybe, more likely, we have no practice as you describe: “playing with dead things”.

They sure do go through lot of hoopla to declare only some saints if they are all saints anyway.

I don’t keep those as I’m stuck on my phone for now. I think caww keeps them. But they don’t play with them. They venerate and pray to them. But they first have to dig em up.

It's a Patriot Guard Riders nickname. We go to military funerals and shield families from abusive protesters. Do you still want to make this about the poster?

I was just curious. I won't bother you any more. Sorry.
BTW, what people think and do IS who they are.

Hello.

I read God’s word, ask Him to dwell with me and within me.

I am a Christian. I follow Jesus and I endeavor to hear His voice and obey His word.

Who are you?

They run around carrying them, bow down to them, cover them in gold and/or gemstones and kiss them.

Call it what you will but it's really quite grotesque.

Catholics don't use Ouija boards. It's a children's game marketed to children. I have one from years ago (glow in the dark) that sits on a shelf. But I do know something about their history - knowledge does not a pagan make.

Catholics do have relics though and do pray for others to intercede with God.

No handling of “dead stuff.” Why are you guys so afraid of death, btw? I’ve noticed an absolute hysterical fear of dead bodies among some posters on FR. You all must be fun at an Irish wake!

Relics are contained within glass and no one plays with them.

Catholics don't “handle” them? I've seen plenty of pictures of people bowing to them, lifting them up and kissing them!

We're not “afraid.” It's disgusting and unhygienic.

The soul is gone. Bury the corpses and leave them be.

...”They run around carrying them, bow down to them, cover them in gold and/or gemstones and kiss them.......Call it what you will but it’s really quite grotesque.”.....

I think no matter what “evidence” is presented the response from catholics will remain set until the Lord removes their denial of the facts....

Romans 11:8 ...Just as it is written.. “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that would not see and ears that would not hear, down to this very day.”.....And Matthew saying...”For this people’s heart has grown dull, and with their ears they can barely hear, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.”

And further...2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 tells us...”And with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.... ‘Therefore God sends them a strong delusion’, so that they may believe what is false, in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had ‘pleasure’ in unrighteousness.”

Not doubt. It's also totally of pagan origin. Bringing dead ancestors and past leaders out to "venerate" has deep roots in many pagan societies.

Be careful, I am making lists.

I have THREE lists for FReepers already. They are for me to remember things about FReepers. And even at that, some posters get an asterisk (or more dramatic reminders) by their name. I call the lists the GOOD, the BAD and the UGLY.

MANY of the posters on the latter TWO lists have disappeared and post no more. Who knows what happened to them. I suppose that they moved on to greener pastures.

You are on none of those lists as I hardly know you.
