A church that thinks Mary was God’s daughter, born and lived without sin and never died is very tainted. None of that is Biblical, it is all made up and blasphemy. A church that thinks it has the power to decide who is and who is not a Saint and what role they play in heaven is heralding blasphemy.

The idea that humans need to pray to Saints instead of Jesus as “intercessors” is ridiculous. Jesus is God and he does not need dead humans (laughably appointed by humans to jobs in heaven) to lobby for you.

It is all about as Biblical as the Mormons converting the dead to Mormonism.

A. Daughter? Did Mary conceive Jesus? Is Jesus God? Would Mary then be God's mother?
B. Mary, full of Grace - Luke 1:28

A. The Saints aren't dead
B. We don't "need" to pray to saints for intercession. You can pray to God or Jesus also. For example, we pray the Our Father every Mass. The Church recognizes Saints can speak to God in our behalf. Why is this bed?

What church thinks Mary is God’s daughter (any more than all of us are the sons and daughters of God)? It’s not the Catholic Church.

It's blasphemous to believe that God restored some (not even all!) of the prerogatives of Eve to his own son's mother?

Do you even know what the word "blasphemous" means?

"instead of Jesus"? That idea is not one that any Catholic believes.

...I am a Catholic...I do not need to pray to saints if I do not choose to do so...

...any more than I need to respond to ignorance on online fora...but I do both for reasons I’m certain are far beyond your limited ken...

The Catholic Church is nothing more than the perversion of the Faith to suit the purposes of the Roman aristocracy. The Romans hijacked the Faith.... added a strong dash of paganism... and came up with authoritarianism by another name.

It’s very telling that the “Protestant” church really gained traction when the Bible became readily available to the populace.

Are there any Catholics who are trying to force you to believe what we believe?

GeronL, I don't have time for this because I have to finish up the parish newsletter, write the G.K. Chesterton discussion quesitons for tonight, and then get out and stomp around with a "Pro-.Life/YesOn1" sign at the nearest TN Early Voting poll site

But it just gets tedious when people who have been around here for years, like you, and who should know better, feel they can slapdash any manner of snips'n'snails together and pass it off it Catholic Doctrine. Look, I don't mind a robust argument. But that only happens when you're actually giving an accurate account of what the other guys believe.

"A church that thinks Mary was God’s daughter..."

Would you please explain what you mean by this? Mary could be described as a "daughter" only in the sense that I can, in the sense that she is a handmaid, knows herself to be a handmaid, and is being addressed by an Archangel as a handmaid: a servant of her Savior. She is not, however, a "daughter" in a sense parallel to Jesus Christ being God's Son. Jesus Christ is God. Mary is a handmaid. Got that? Then you agree with what the Catholic Church believes about Mary.

"...born and lived without sin..."

Please checkout a relevant item in Biblical Koine Greek (LINK). You may not agree with it, but can't deny it's Biblical and denotes something unique: the title Kecharitomene is used nowhere else in any Biblical or non-Biblical Greek literature. I believe it's inspired.

"...and never died..."

This is not what the Catholic Church teaches.

If you're going to contend, contend with what we actually said. OK? It makes it a whole lot less tedious.
