Reverend Billy Graham, arguably the most well-known and respected evangelical preacher of the last 50 years, said in a recently published commentary that America was founded by men who believed in prayer and that prayer can turn the tide of history, adding that while America is just as wicked as Sodom and Gomorrah and deserves the judgment of God, this judgment can be lessened through prayer.
Even though America is just as wicked as Sodom and Gomorrah ever were, and as deserving of the judgment of God, God would spare us if we were earnestly praying, with hearts that had been cleansed and washed by the blood of Christ, said Rev. Graham in his commentary for Decision magazine, published by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association...
Amen. There will always be a remnant.
Dr. Graham is just one of my favorite people of all time. Period.
I see where you're coming from, but I don't believe God's promises ever change - He is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8) and His promises ring true today as they always have.
I think Sodom and Gomorrah got of easy compared to what we may have to endure. For them, it was over pretty quickly. We may consider that to be merciful compared to what is in store for the US.
I understand.
I fly my flag every day, in the hope we can regain what has been lost.
God bless Rev. Graham. He has preached the Gospel message for over 65 years and has been a model evangelist and Christian. He will be 96 years old on November 7th.
God is merciful. Remember, Abraham stopped asking before God stopped giving. Genesis 18:23 - 33.
I agree with your comment, however consider that Sodom crossed a line and was destroyed with only a small fragment being spared judgment. Same thing with Jerusalem in AD70. Same thing with Noah. There is a line.
You wouldn’t be talking about Joel Olstein and that hussy of a wife he drags around would you?
Billy has pegged it. Time for contrition and reform.
Wycliffe reported they are almost done with translating the Word into every language. They do updates as languages change (especially with the changes because of technology) but the time is near.
I did a study on what the Bible says about child sacrifice, the shedding of innocent blood, etc. It took about 3 months. Before the Israelites went into the promised land they were warned not to do what the natives were doing. Israel was being sent into the land and given it not because they were better than those living there but because the natives were burning their babies alive.
Later,King Manasseh didn’t believe the God of Israel was the Only One True God and started the practice. It was a corporate punishment. IT WAS THE ONLY TIME THAT GOD WOULD NOT FORGIVE the nation.
However, the LORD did not turn from the fierceness of His great wrath with which His anger burned against Judah, because of all the provocations with which Manasseh had provoked Him. And the LORD said, I will remove Judah also from My sight, as I have removed Israel. And I will cast off Jerusalem, this city which I have chosen, and the temple (house) of which I said, My name shall be there.
Surely at the command (mouth) of the LORD it came upon Judah, to remove them from His sight because of the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he had done, and also for the innocent blood which he shed, for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; AND THE LORD WOULD NOT FORGIVE. (All caps mine) 2 Kings 23: 26 & 27 and 24: 3 & 4
I always point out that Manasseh repented! He was forgiven. His grandson was Josiah who lead Israel into a great revival. However, again later, a king resumed the practice and they were invaded by the Babylonians. Some were killed, some were taken as slaves (Daniel, etc) and a few were left (there have always been some Jews in the promised land).
God’s judgment here on earth is not always simultaneous as a consequence but do we know of any civilizations that have practiced human sacrifice and still exist? Did you know that the Native Americans (not all tribes) did practice human sacrifice? When God’s wrath is released at the end, He warns us and also says that it is vengeance for the killing of all the prophets. Food for thought.
As a child (teen+) I wondered how God could justify total world catastrophes, but we all know that child sacrifice is a world wide practice. God is just. Also, I am a post-tribulationist. My heart fears for my son and his new wife but read Revelation and see that before the wrath of God is released, those who believe in God are sealed on their foreheads. Then Satan makes people get his mark. Some believers will die, some will become slaves, and some will be nomads.
If God wanted to He could have a world wide revival, but He would still have to avenge those being sacrificed in our hospitals and clinics. Personally, I say get it over with. I want the babies to stop being murdered as soon as possible and I don’t want it to happen again after a revival.
Does anyone know if abortions were performed at any time in the past, say before WW1 or WW2? I vaguely remember something about the doctors refusing to do them and getting the laws written against it. If so, we are in the second phase.
Israel the man and Israel the nation are masculine.
Yuck....I’ll picture that lezo Mayor, now, every time I pass the court house. The local news outlets sure aren’t racing to cover any of her latest antics, either.
NO, they aren’t are they?
I did see her on the BCS station. Belligerent as hell.
It’s hard for liberals to surprise me. But I have to admit, I am surprised at how far down sh!t’s creek they have taken us with no paddles. It’s like watching a horror movie.
He should ask himself that. The Reverend has done pretty good by America despite her sins.
