But is there anything in canon law relating to an apostate or heretical Pope? I've been told recently on FR that a "bad" Pope will die before being able to do it, if he's decided to speak ex cathedra, i.e. infallibly.

I would guess there is no controlling legal authority.

It wasn’t easy to make that call in previous centuries either. There were saints on either side of the Avignon schism.
I do not know about procedures in canon law—I doubt it. I know an equal can judge an equal, so I’d imagine that it would eventually have to be resolved by a subsequent Pontiff at the head of a Council as it was after Honorius.
If it came to it (and I don’t think it will), Benedict XVI would likely be under tremendous pressure to help settle the issue.

NO as catholics we would not be held to whatever statement is made by the Synod regarding family and human relationships.
Infallibility is reserved for specific issues of Catholic dogma, for example a belief in Jesus as the only son of God born of the virgin Mary.
For me as a catholic, I am greatly troubled by the rumors swirling around the direction of the Synod. Will some leave the church sadly and tragically yes. I will not for only one simple reason. The Eucharist.

No... Many would rightfully just leave the Church. No. The Church remains with the faithful who ARE the Church. The administration of it leaves, not the other way around.

Apparently the “queer wing” of the Catholic clergy has taken over the church. This will bring more cover ups for clergy sexual abuse of young innocents.

Wouldn’t that be a mess.
Would make for an interesting novel though.

Wow. Never thought I’d say it so soon into the century: “The Pope has jumped the shark”. Somebody needs to photoshop the pic of Fonzie, I guess.

Where will they go? One of the Orthodox churches?
Only if you're stuck on ritualism.

I guess they could create some kind of Catholic-in-Exile Church?

Nope. Doesn't qualify as infallibility. Has to be consistent with the Magisterium. Saint JPII considered the whole body of prior magisterial teaching as binding, and that would especially apply to the Bible. Since Jesus called fornication sinful, not even the Pope and all current bishops together could overturn that. Must say, however, I am shocked and disappointed in Francis.

Jesus should be the head of the church Should be and is.
The Pope is just minding the store until He comes back.
