Why would intelligent, successful people give up their careers, alienate their friends, and cause havoc in their families...to become Catholic? Indeed, why would anyone become Catholic?
As an evangelist and author who recently threw my own life into some turmoil by deciding to enter the Catholic Church, I've faced this question a lot lately. That is one reason I decided to make this documentary; it's part of my attempt to try to explain to those closest to me why I would do such a crazy thing.
Convinced isn't just about me, though. The film is built around interviews with some of the most articulate and compelling Catholic converts in our culture today, including Scott Hahn, Francis Beckwith, Taylor Marshall, Holly Ordway, Abby Johnson, Jeff Cavins, Devin Rose, Matthew Leonard, Mark Regnerus, Jason Stellman, John Bergsma, Christian Smith, Kevin Vost, David Currie, Richard Cole, and Kenneth Howell. It also contains special appearances by experts in the field of conversion such as Patrick Madrid and Donald Asci.
Ultimately, this is a story about finding truth, beauty, and fulfillment in an unexpected place, and then sacrificing to grab on to it. I think it will entertain and inspire you, and perhaps even give you a fresh perspective on an old faith.

1. I clicked your ScreenName to see your FR profile. 2. I clicked the In Forum tab (above 3 boys) 3. I copied the info that contained last Saturday's date into an HTML editor. 4. I tossed out the repetitious data 5. I pasted what remained into FR. 6. I smugly give myself a virtual high-five for going such good research. I have absolutely no idea of what you are getting at...you know that I have three boys.....and ????? TADA!

of course not, God sends me to purgatory (you too) to cleanse us of any wrongdoings that remain on our souls at death. Doesn't Last Rites take care of that little problem? yes, if you are fortunate enough to receive them.

If a man is to die for an injustice, it's GOD'S place to make that determination and carry out the sentence. Torturing and killing people for dissenting against a denomination's cherished beliefs is murder, plain and simple, Believers can be instruments of execution of heretics by prayer, by delivering one over to judgment by spiritual means, and otherwise discipline the impenitent as needed, and in fact I am opposed to getting the secular powers involved in such, unless a church is not effectively dealing with it.
Which is a very sad state, as the church is supposed to set the moral standard, and the State being the church is standing where it ought not to normally, and once the nose gets in, then it makes it far too easy for the rest to follow.
Aside from that however, it is not in the charter of the church to rule over those without using the sword of men, or use it in disciplining its own, and as a result of it doing so, it has been overall counterproductive, giving fodder to the canon of Islam and atheists to attack the church, if blind to the atrocities of their own house.

....they didn't start printing anything for years after the press was invented, Oh? That seems; shall I say; strange Then they should have been JEWISH; not Catholic. The Jews had no problem, it seems, in having their people literate why would that be strange...how many phone calls do you suppose were made in the 25 years following the invention of the telephone??
No, the majority of the Jewish people at that time were not literate..if, somehow they had learned to read, they had nothing in their possession to read...there were no newspapers, periodicals, publishers clearing house hadn't even been thought of yet. Please explain to me what they read and where did they get it.

Even IF it were so, and it's not, just where in Scripture does Jesus sanction the church killing people who reject Him? I didn't say He did, must have me mixed up with another brilliant poster.

There is no such place as purgatory. True believers are totally cleansed by the blood of Christ. then why does the real bible tell us to pray for the dead???

If you don't know what day it is don't call it the sabbath day trying to leave the impression it's the day God set aside. If you don't even know what day it is then don't play like it's God's Sabbath what day do the vast majority of protestants and Catholic attend services.??......do you really suppose that God Almighty cares which day it is???

If there is nothing else readers get from these threads I pray they get the truth from that passage unless you eat of the flesh of the Son of Man and drink of His blood, you shall not have life within you.
I agree

We were NOT talking about “attending services”. You called the Sabbath day. Why now change terminology? Can't defend your “ sabbath day?

If I had the choice, and I do, to either believe the Catholic church or editor -surveyor...My results varied; because my 2 choices were different:
... either believe the Catholic church or
...the bible.

...he removed the book of Machabees where it instructs us to pray for our dead....Your record here in this thread is more or less, give or take, highly accurate or not so much.
Can I PLEASE have the ACTUAL VERSES in Macbee(sp?) that shows purgatory's existence?

“I’ve fallen and can’t get up!”
We’ve all seen and heard the commercials; of an elder in need.
Perhaps we (well; Catholics anyway) need a Last Rights MP3 player©. An authentic prayer, by an authorized priest; will state YOUR name in a personalized message that will be SURE to get straight to Jesus. (Mary’s not even needed this time.)
When you find your life ebbing away, and no priest is near; merely press the button to save yourself a time in purgatory.
Operators are standing by to take your order.
Only $39.99 (plus applicable taxes and S&H) will reserve YOU an early entry into Heaven.
Choice of colors are available. (Pewter and Gold seem to be the favorites.)
