Why would intelligent, successful people give up their careers, alienate their friends, and cause havoc in their families...to become Catholic? Indeed, why would anyone become Catholic?
As an evangelist and author who recently threw my own life into some turmoil by deciding to enter the Catholic Church, I've faced this question a lot lately. That is one reason I decided to make this documentary; it's part of my attempt to try to explain to those closest to me why I would do such a crazy thing.
Convinced isn't just about me, though. The film is built around interviews with some of the most articulate and compelling Catholic converts in our culture today, including Scott Hahn, Francis Beckwith, Taylor Marshall, Holly Ordway, Abby Johnson, Jeff Cavins, Devin Rose, Matthew Leonard, Mark Regnerus, Jason Stellman, John Bergsma, Christian Smith, Kevin Vost, David Currie, Richard Cole, and Kenneth Howell. It also contains special appearances by experts in the field of conversion such as Patrick Madrid and Donald Asci.
Ultimately, this is a story about finding truth, beauty, and fulfillment in an unexpected place, and then sacrificing to grab on to it. I think it will entertain and inspire you, and perhaps even give you a fresh perspective on an old faith.

of course it wasn't physical blood, nor is it in a Mass...it is wine, fruit of the vine which has been transubstantiated into the Blood of Christ....still under the appearance of wine. The jury will note there is is NO evidence for this...

There were scribes who told the peopple what government documents said
and wrote letters for them if they wanted to communicate something.

Did Jesus eat His own flesh and drink his own blood? I think the Book says He's going to do that later...
Matthew 26:29
I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom."

the Catholic church never objected to anyone reading the bible as long as it was an accurate rendition.

As a Baptist, I'm sure you pray the Lord's Prayer (the "Our Father") fairly often, a prayer taught by Jesus Christ. As a Catholic, I'm sure you know that the disciples asked Jesus to teach them HOW to pray - not WHAT to pray.

Here is a clip that might help you with getting to the truth of that Gospel passage: "Is St. Peter the Rock on which Jesus built his Church? (Petros...Petra controversy)"
OH?
I see you are not up to #1463 yet.
When you get to it, and read it and understand that CATHOLIC Holy Men are quoted therein; will you comment on the content of their words?

Rather, the Church realizes we are continually getting a deeper appreciation of everything in the written "Word of God".
2,000 + years and you guys STILL haven't got it nailed down?

>>You are mistaking a prayer shortcut<<
I'm not mistaking anything. I could have posted example after example of prayers to saints and Mary not only asking for specific acts on their part but dedicatjng oneself totally to that entity rather than to God. Catholics can nuance the issue all they want but it's only they who are being deceived.
>>As a very rough and very imperfect illustration<<
No, it's actually a carnal attempt obfuscate the truth. The prayer was specifically asking that saint to perform an act. Words mean something. When I ask someone to pray for me I don't ask that person actually perform the task. Your feeble attempt is laughable and sad.
>>Now God does not need ANY prayers.<<
We are told to pray and to whom to pray.
Catholics deny that they pray TO saints and Mary then when shown proof that they actually do contrive some sort of denial. They are not deceiving anyone but themselves.

One final thing: the following text casts light on the separation of the body and soul at death:
✝============================================================✝
We are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.
2 Corinthians 5:8
What it 'casts light on' is Paul's DESIRE; not necessarily FACTS.
Who are the Dead in Christ and Where are they NOW?

You are mistaking a prayer shortcut (with obvious implicit direction to God through the saint for fulfillment) with some kind of stand-alone action by a saint. WHO is standing on YOUR dashboard?

"Why do you persecute me." --Jesus You got it!
Christ is the HEAD of the 'church' and we SAINTS are the STONES that are being used to build a Holy Priesthood.
WE are His body now; not the little wafer your chosen religions hands out.
So when Stephen etal were persecuted, it was Jesus' BODY that was persecuted. Thus the quote:
"Why do you persecute me."
