Why would intelligent, successful people give up their careers, alienate their friends, and cause havoc in their families...to become Catholic? Indeed, why would anyone become Catholic?
As an evangelist and author who recently threw my own life into some turmoil by deciding to enter the Catholic Church, I've faced this question a lot lately. That is one reason I decided to make this documentary; it's part of my attempt to try to explain to those closest to me why I would do such a crazy thing.
Convinced isn't just about me, though. The film is built around interviews with some of the most articulate and compelling Catholic converts in our culture today, including Scott Hahn, Francis Beckwith, Taylor Marshall, Holly Ordway, Abby Johnson, Jeff Cavins, Devin Rose, Matthew Leonard, Mark Regnerus, Jason Stellman, John Bergsma, Christian Smith, Kevin Vost, David Currie, Richard Cole, and Kenneth Howell. It also contains special appearances by experts in the field of conversion such as Patrick Madrid and Donald Asci.
Ultimately, this is a story about finding truth, beauty, and fulfillment in an unexpected place, and then sacrificing to grab on to it. I think it will entertain and inspire you, and perhaps even give you a fresh perspective on an old faith.

The Catholic Church insists the Eucharist is the real physical flesh and blood of Christ.
Then why in the world did they kill others for wanting their own copy of the Bible? When I was doing genealogy research on my late husband’s ancestors years ago, I was amazed at that. They should have been thrilled that people wanted their own copy unless they had something to hide.
But I would still like an answer.
I am sorry giving an answer that has already been given countless times will just act as a springboard for one of the prots to go off on another rant.
Why not say you do not know the answer? They were kooks! It would ruin the Catholic teachings if people could read their own Bible and know what it really said.
If anything I tell you will change your mind and heart then Freepmail me. Cite a specific time and place and I will give you an answer. I will not allow my posts to be used as a springboard for a prot rant.
Is that all you can say? I have been able to read for nearly 65 years and have done research for years after finding that info when doing genealogy research. People were burned at the stake for wanting/having their own copies. My bookmarks are on my desktop which I can not use right now. I do not have a clue as to what is wrong with my computer. It is very interesting that y’all can not back up statements made on here. It seems tradition is more important than the Bible.
This thread is over 1500 posts. It was so filled will falsity it should have died before 50 posts, but prots love to go off on rants with no facts.

Your tag line should be the other way. : ). We back up what we say with Bible verses.
You ask for historical information and now you want Bible verses. Someone needs to make up their mind.
Excellent job! Thank you so much for the hard work you put into this reply.

So, the “good thief” was obviously a sinner. Was his faith in Christ and Jesus' sacrifice sufficient to get him straight into Heaven or did he need a some “therapeutic” Purgatory torture?
Jesus loves me! This I know,
For the Bible tells me so;
Little ones to Him belong;
They are weak, but He is strong.
Refrain:
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.
Jesus loves me! This I know,
As He loved so long ago,
Taking children on His knee,
Saying, Let them come to Me.
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.
Jesus loves me still today,
Walking with me on my way,
Wanting as a friend to give
Light and love to all who live.
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.
Jesus loves me! He who died
Heavens gate to open wide;
He will wash away my sin,
Let His little child come in.
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.
Jesus loves me! He will stay
Close beside me all the way;
Thou hast bled and died for me,
I will henceforth live for Thee.
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.
That’s mighty impressive but it’s not a cereal box.

stuck on that, aren’t you???
Only until you answer that, won’t you?
Scripture says all believers are saints.
Scripture says that Jesus turned the bread and wine into His Body and Blood. Why don’t protestants believe that?
Scripture says Jesus will return with a sharp sword coming forth from his mouth.
Why don’t Catholics understand the word “metaphor?”
Man! I just KNEW I left something out! :D
possibly, there is such thing as a Baptism of desire.
So he doesn't need to be “therapeutically perfected” in purgatory?
Theres no harm in ignoring the Rosary. Never say a Hail Mary and everything is hunky dory?
I don’t know why a Catholic would do that but..........yes.
Then what value do these practices hold?
