Pope Francis has been a breath of fresh air for many Catholics seeking greater liberty and a growing concern for conservative Christians who take issue with his comments about homosexuality and other cultural issues.
But the pontiff's latest statement is sparking an uproar from believers around the world. Pope Francis sent a tweet Tuesday that absolutely violates the truth of Scripture:
"The Christian who does not feel that the Virgin Mary is his or her mother is an orphan," Pope Francis tweeted.
As of the time I wrote this column it had been retweeted about 4,000 times and many of the responses were in appropriately unkind. It's not appropriate to attack the pope for his beliefs. It's more appropriate to share the truth...
Oh; I get it NOW!
You're one of them Westboro dudes; impersonating an abrasive Catholic.
BTW; you're doing a real good job!
Lots
Of
Liquor?
How?
I'll still be here!
Says WHO?
This is a TOTALLY imagined assertion with ZERO basis in FACT.
Yes; Why do you 'think' He couldn't?
Nope; but the ATTEMPT to veer off in a different direction of thought IS.
You have it so backwards...No one receives grace as a payment or reward...Not even Mary...Grace may however prevent someone from sinning as much as they could...
Eph 3:8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;
Was Paul's grace a reward for killing so many Christians???
Do you really think God could incarnate in the womb of a sinful creature?
Do you think the God who Created all that is would be worried about a little thing like that???
Not only could Jesus have been born to a sinning mother, it had to be that way...God could not be tempted by sin...Jesus was tempted by sin...
Heb_2:18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
Do you really think God could incarnate in the womb of a sinful creature? How would that creature not be annihilated? In the Old Testament, when those who werent priests touched the Ark of the Covenant, they would fall over dead, fallen, unredeemed human beings were so unworthy at that time. God is outside time and to Him all things are present.
That's pretty presumptuous of you...God created time...Jesus lived in time...Jesus died in time...You don't think God could separate time???
So you are saying that since people of the Old Testament would die if they touched the ark, that Mary in the New Testament would have fallen over dead if she was not perfect and sinless when she became pregnant??? But yet Mary which Catholics claim is the new Eve (deadly ark) with God living inside her was not a death trap when people touched her...
The fables your religion spins would be the envy of Aesop...
Still prior to the death and resurrection.
>>but He can choose to make His Holy Presence more available and approachable for humans at a specific, particular, special location, wherever and whenever He wants to.<<
But He didn't. God is now equally approachable anywhere and everywhere.
The words Gabriel spoke were not *half a Hail Mary*.
The Hail Mary did not exist at the time.
Catholics took the words Gabriel spoke and made it into half the Hail Mary, so your appeal to authority falls flat on its face.
Why do you try to change the narrative? Your posts and comments tried to show that we are told to build a place to meet the Lord. And you specifically stated that it's easier to meet Him there. I didn't say you can't meet Him there. I said you can be with Him anywhere and that your comments indicate you believe a structure is not only commanded but preferable.
I think you need to check the Greek word there. That same Greek word is used here in Matthew 20:8 where it says "lord of the vineyard". The Greek word there does NOT specifically denote deity. It is used for masters of slaves and others in authority. Study scripture, not Catholicism.
Oh, do you mean like this ?
It would also deny what scripture says about the Holy Spirit indwelling of believers.
A good thing about Catholicism is that it is never confused about the Divinity of Jesus.
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
What part of “specifically” did you not understand? Go look at how the Greek word is used throughout scripture and come back and tell us how every time it denoted deity.
Oh they ascribe divinity to lots of people and even crackers.
All you have to do is check how that word is used in scripture and come back and show us how every time it ascribed divinity. That should be easy enough for you shouldn’t it?
Well, then, if Christ is the example of how to honor whats-her-name, then we should be calling her *Woman*, like He did....I don't recall anywhere where he called her by her name, nor even called her *Mother*, or *Mom* nor even referred to her at all as HIS mother. -metmomJesus's last words on the Cross, before he uttered, "It is finished," were to John, "Behold your mother." He did not say behold "whats-her-name." Your disdain for Mary is harsh, unnecessary, and displays no love, yet she is the mother of Jesus, hence God. This from today's first reading, 1 Cor 12:31-13:13:
"Brothers and sisters: Strive eagerly for the greatest spiritual gifts. But I shall show you a still more excellent way. If I speak in human and angelic tongues but do not have love, I am a resounding gong or a clashing cymbal........."
