I wonder if he considers ISIS, which is running a barbaric, sexist, kill all who don’t believe as we do, and 7th Century oriented, as better or worse than the Catholic Church.

In showing that he is a “tolerant” person, he will probably say that ISIS is quite honorable and humane and nothing near as bad as the Catholic Church.

With a name like Coyne, this dope sounds like he is Irish by ancestry. Why, he undoubtedly had Christian and even Catholic ancestors? Alienate from his heritage as Coyne id. he is making Satan proud. He must be a sensation in the faculty lounge.

I think he studies evolution because apparently his family missed out on it.

Atheism[edit]
Born to Jewish parents, Coyne considers himself a secular Jew,[14] and an outspoken proponent of atheism, metaphysical naturalism and the conflict thesis. He claims that religion and science are fundamentally incompatible, that only rational evaluation of evidence is capable of reliably discovering the world and the way it works, and that scientists who hold religious views are only reflective of the idea “that people can hold two conflicting notions in their heads at the same time”. He has argued that the incompatibility of science and faith is based on irreconcilable differences in methodology, philosophy, and outcomes when they try to discern truths about the universe.

As well as evolution-related topics, his blog Why Evolution Is True,[15] discusses atheism, the incompatibility of science and religion, science, and other topics. He has frequently participated in public forums and cross-fire debates with theists.

if that diatribe weren’t so sick, it would almost be funny....a person who has NO IDEA of what he is talking about decides to preach morality to Catholics...good luck there....Catholics have believed and taught against killing babies for 2,000 years and will continue to do so. The University of Chicago, home of such stalwarts as Bernadine Dohrn and old what’s his name, the communist domestic terrorist...yeah, let’s listen to what they have to say.....does anyone actually attend that educational disaster area????if so, WHY?????

Speaking of evolution, the simian-looking Coyne is one of Darwin's cruel jokes.

That would be Bill Ayers, and they teach at Northwestern University.

Dohrn was an admirer of Charles Manson and the Manson group's methods. Manson sought to ignite an all-out race war in the United States. Source

Professor of ecology and evolution ... is that even a degree?

There was a spelling error. It's SCATOLOGY, not "ecology."

:o)

On just what grounds do non-Theists condemn anything? Did some scientist somewhere discover a moral code in a test tube, microscope, or telescope?

Unfortunately, rejecting Theonomic Positivism for "natural law" invites this concept of independent morality.

1. To be fair, this sort of thing has been repeated by anti-Catholic polemicists since the 16th century. Or before.
The grounds for the complaint may vary, but the intensity of the hate is quite traditional.
The good (or not so good) professor is writing in quite an old tradition and has a lot of interesting company.

1. You mean, it started during the Protestant Reformation with/by de-frocked Catholic priest Father Martin Luther.

2. Yes, it is, a tradition of intense hatred. Perhaps it was started by Cain.

3. Of whom might his "interesting company" be comprised? I'm curious.

And his Free Republic name is...

Oh come on now, let's be honest. It's Catholic FReepers who agree with him about evolution, not Fundamentalist Protestants.
