G-d's word is amazing. 3500 years ago He shows his sense of humor by giving the ancient Hebrews a word for "violence"....."HAMAS"!

Seems to me that the PLO knew what the Hebrew word means anyway.I don't doubt that at all.
Fatah is supposed to be an acronym too, but spelled in reverse so as to come out to mean conquest.
Interestingly enough, the Hebrew word likkud also means conquest.

Also for the record, Fatah are members of the Socialist InternationalAs is (or was at least) the Israeli Labor Party. Ain't international workers' brotherhood wunnerful???

Actually, it [Baraq] means blessed. You will find it in the Hebrew scriptures corresponding to Numbers 6:24Baraq (with a qof) means "lightning." The triliteral root for "blessing" has a kaf, not a qof. Unlike qof, kaf becomes spirant at the end of a word or syllable.
And btw, "blessed" is a passive form, which is barukh, not "barak."

Number one, Im not Jewish. Number two, my bible spells it God, not G-d. Thanks for your insightful comment, jackass."Your 'bible'" is a translation. THE Bible is in Hebrew.
Powersboothefan tried to explain to you that the avoidance of spelling out the word in full is out of reverence. The fact that you were ignorant about this practice until now doesn't change its validity, nor is it an excuse to behave like boor.
I advise you not to attack people on this forum because they follow Jewish customs.
To: JABit
If you profess to be Christian, that means youre trying to be a spiritual Jew; and the Bible came from Jewry. People on this forum are very sensitive to attacks on temporal Jews here, myself included; and traditionally Jews believe that spelling out the entire name, even in English, puts them at risk of an utterance of the LORDs name in vain especially if the written form ends up somehow misused.
Your Bible comes from the Hebrew and Aramaic and is a translation. There was no English language during the time of Jesus, furthermore.

Your Bible is a translation of a text that most certainly does not spell out the name of G-d.

I do not have the Persian reference but Luke 10:17 is interesting:
17 The seventy-two returned with joy and said, Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.
18 He replied, I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.
The Gospel was written in Greek, because it was the language of commerce back in that era. However, Jesus was speaking Aramaic.
When rendered in the original language the expression "lightening from heaven" sounds like this:
"Lightening" = "barack"
"heaven" could be "the high place" which would be rendered "Bamah or Bemah"
I would love to see the Persian reference, since the mental picture of satan with the horns and tail comes from there.

“Baruch” means Blessed.
But since the difference is in the vowels, which are not used in Classical Hebrew, it can be pronounced many ways.
