"Catholic belief is succinctly expressed in the profession of faith or credo called the Nicene Creed:...."

Protestant belief is also expressed in the same Nicene Creed and Apostles Creed that you quoted.

In another thread, I once quoted the Apostles Creed, asking "if this is what I base my faith on, why do you Roman Catholics tell me I am not a Christian nor am I saved?"

I was basically told that it does not matter that I believe in that Creed, because if I am not a Roman Catholic then I still am not saved.

So apparently in the eyes of Roman Catholics, there are man-written other "works" that must be performed before one can be saved saved. Joining the Roman Catholic church seems to be one of those works.

Funny stuff, completely wrong, but darn funny. If they bring back "Laugh in" this guy has a job for life.

“And the Lord looked at Peter and said “You are the Rock upon which I will build my Church.”

That mission was given to my Church directly by Jesus and it’s why I stick around.

The truth is in the Catholic Church and is taught here. Granted it has been obscured by millennia of ceremony, legalism, semi-occult practices, and misunderstandings by the Laity which the Church has, for some reason or other, chosen not to try and correct.

Protestants exist because frankly at various points in our history we have fallen way, way short of our mission.

Thanks for your deep concern about my immortal Catholic soul.

You forgot the sarcasm tag, but I do sincerely hope you will come to know the saving GRACE of Jesus, not the restrictive and cumbersome requirements of some manmade cult! There is enough truth in Roman Catholocism, but I like to equate the rat poison theory: 90% good nourishing food, but 10% poison that leaves you dead.

But, as you talked about your "immortal soul", that is a long, long time to find the error of what a cult teaches.

We have this thing called confirmation. Takes care of the birth, baptism thing. Maybe you have heard of it? Come back when you have a clue what you are talking about.

Popes and saints don’t go to heaven?

Membership and status mean nothing to God. I am a saint, according to Scripture, as is any believer and follower of Jesus Christ.

Romans 3: .. 21 But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22 This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26 he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. ...

“In another thread, I once quoted the Apostles Creed, asking “if this is what I base my faith on, why do you Roman Catholics tell me I am not a Christian nor am I saved?”

Pope Benedict confirmed this:

“It follows that these separated churches and Communities, though we believe they suffer from defects, are deprived neither of significance nor importance in the mystery of salvation. In fact the Spirit of Christ has not refrained from using them as instruments of salvation, whose value derives from that fullness of grace and of truth which has been entrusted to the Catholic Church”

So if your Catholic friends disagree tell them to take it up with the Pope.

This crazy ‘Christian Apologetics & Reasearch Ministry’ website lumps Orthodox and Catholic Christians with Islam. That’s pretty far out there, in my opinion.

"That mission was given to my Church directly by Jesus and it’s why I stick around."

You are wrong.... that mission was given directly by Jesus to the "Universal Church", meaning the body of believers who make up Christ's church. Some people have the mistaken idea that the word 'catholic' belongs to the Roman Church. But simply because Rome claims to be the catholic church, doesn't make it so. In truth the word catholic is simply a form of the Greek word [katholikos] which means, "of the whole." Taken from two root words [kata], meaning pertaining to, or about, and the word [holos], meaning the whole. i.e., the it means the whole or Universal Church or body of believers in Christ Jesus.

From those original body of believers, there have evolved various denominations or groups declaring their interpretation is the best. First there were the Romans declaring they and they alone owned the commission that was given by Christ to Peter. Almost all Christians went along with that declaration for a while until they began to see the corruption in the church in Rome.

The truth is that there is ONE body of Christ and all believers are in it irregarless of whether or not they belong to the ROMAN catholic church..

So if Christ started the one true Church, and his direct apostles were all good, holy, faithful men

So please tell us - when exactly did the Roman Catholic Church start promoting false doctrines? who did it, when, and why?

Jesus said, in John 3:3, A man must be born again.

In Luke 23:39-43, Jesus tells the man to His right, this day you will be in Paradise with Me.

The man had, confessed that Jesus was God, that he was a sinner worthy of death and asked Jesus to forgive him and let him be His slave.

There is nothing in the Bible, that I know of or that the Pastor knows of that precludes doing more, only that doing less cannot comply.

In James, the half brother of Jesus, James says that he shows his salvation by his works and that faith without works is dead.

I have often wondered if the Protesters have a secret quota on how many Catholics they have to try and turn.
