Two historians claim the search for the Holy Grail is over.
The famous cup used by Jesus Christ during the Last Supper was identified in a book written by Margarita Torres Jose Manuel Ortega del Rio, titled “Kings of the Grail” and published last week, as the jewel-encrusted goblet on display at the San Isidro Basilica in the northwestern Spanish city of Leon.
News of the discovery caused masses of people to flock to the historic church to view the precious chalice – forcing the operators of the museum to pull the piece from the exhibit, according to French news agency Agence France-Presse.
The museum’s director told AFP that they were looking for space large enough to accommodate the crowds.
“It was in a very small room where it was not possible to admire it to the full,” Raquel Jaen told the agency.
There are more than 200 golden cups that have been thought to be the one used during the Last Supper, but Torres and del Rio identified the Spanish goblet during a three-year investigation that started with a piece of Egyptian parchment found at the University of Al-Azhar in Cairo, the agency reported.
Who knew enough to hide the cup away since the most spectacular events were to come.

Goblets weren’t used by common folk in 30 AD. The Romans had begun small-scale mass production of decorated pottery preceding that time period using molds and pressed clay.
Christ’s cup was most likely a small red bowl. A stackable, uniformed-sized one like in the link below:

Besides, veneration of objects surrounding the life, death, and resurrection of Christ is foolish, in my opinion. It is the very fact that He lived, died, and rose again, and why He did it, that we should celebrate, not a splinter of wood, a piece of cloth, or an old cup.

Unveiling their findings last Wednesday, the two explained that they found documents referencing the chalice at Cairo’s University of al-Azhar while researching the history if Islamic remains at the Basilica of San Isidoro, the Irish Times reported.The documents, written in Arabic, reportedly say that Muslims stole the chalice from Jerusalem and that it was given to Christians in Egypt. Then, they claim it was somehow sent to King Fernando I of Castile as a gift, disguised with jewels and other adornments.
The historians admit that they cannot prove the chalice touched Christ’s lips, nor can they pinpoint the first 400 years of its history. That said, they claim to have used a scientific dating method to determine that the chalice was likely made between 200 B.C. and A.D. 100.

Has anyone been healed by the cup? Has any supernatural things happened around the cup? Has it saved anyones life? If it is the real cup it should have all sorts of spiritual power! This is just a fancy cup.

I can say without a doubt that Jesus did not drink from some gaudy drinking cup. Nice try. It’s April Fool’s Day so let’s file it under that.

I'm a skeptic, but among claimed "Holy Grails," the one from Valencia has the best backstory. It's made of agate and is similar to agate cups from Jerusalem, dating 1-50 AD, exhibited in the British Museum.
Some scholars claim that porous cups, such as wood or pottery, were forbidden for use at Passover because they could not be "clean."
Just some random thoughts.
A cup like what? With gold and jewels? Did you actually read the article or simply look at the photo and then post your comment? Had you read the article, you would have learned that the cup is made of alabaster and dates to the 1st century. The gold and jewels are part of a 2nd cup that holds the original. Did you not catch this?
I am always skeptical of relics;Gibbon reported enough claimed pieces of “The True Cross” to make a sizable wooden fleet. There has always been lots of relics to stimulate donations by poor souls.
i agree it looks like the gold and jewel part of the cup was added OVER a much more plainer cup.
I think that gold and jewels were added over it much later. some tests could determine the age ranges of each.
the search for a cup Jesus drank from is meaningless. what Christ did for us is what is critical.
The "grail" would be fancy as it was used for a special occasion. But, all those jewels?
It DOES have a "beaten-up" look but I DON'T think it's the Real McCoy.

Agreed. In Jesus time and station in life the goblet he drank from at the last supper was likely made of ceramic or wood.
