Editors note: A shorter review of Noah appeared on Friday. The movie review below is a much more detailed examination of the new Hollywood film.
On Thursday evening, a team of researchers from Answers in Genesis viewed the new Noah film. Based on reviews from trusted friends of the ministry who had seen the movie, including a staff member, we were hesitant to spend any money on watching this unbiblical picture. But AiG had already received hundreds of inquiries about our position on the film even before it was released, so we believed it was necessary for AiGs research team to write an eyewitness review.
Does this mean that every Christian should watch this movie before they can determine whether it is good or bad? Not at all. Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety (Proverbs 11:14). We are offering our counsel here with this movie review, and we have already posted an initial brief review of the movie and hosted a live webcast discussing the subject. Our desire is to provide wise counsel to those who may consider attending this film that we cannot in any way endorse.
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20)
This verse repeatedly came to mind while reflecting on this movie because the film often flipped biblical morality on its head. Its important to realize that the director and cowriter, Darren Aronofsky, is a self-professed atheist. This fact alone doesnt mean that he couldnt make a good film on the Bibles history (especially if he seeks advice from Bible-believing Christians) ... Nearly every moral issue seen in Noah is inverted.

It’s nice of you to continually post these reviews but until YOU actually see the movie and can give us YOUR honest opinion of it, the reviews mean nothing.......
“One might argue that many of these issues are rather minor points in the grand scheme of the biblical narrative. But it reveals a cavalier attitude towards the Bible. If they cant bother to get the smaller points right, then how can we trust them to accurately handle the larger issues”
There’s this horrible but popular praise song at church called Days of Elijah, and it sings about King David building a temple. I remember God telling David he could not build his temple because he was a man of war. It’s minor, but always wondered why so many churches are ok with singing some clear contradiction to the Bible.
It used to be - that singing Christian hymns in church would also serve to teach Christian doctrine. But that’s sure not guaranteed anymore!

So, like The Last Temptation of Christ, it was a work of fiction, based very loosely on real events.
If the characters were still alive they could sue.

On a related note, It’s pretty obvious from all the reviews that this movie is a stinker. I mean, it may not be Ishtar, but still...
Thanks for the info- this movie is off our list to see!
Gods Not Dead seems to have good reviews though- will probably see that one...
Why do you think we should enrich Hollywood haters before having an opinion?
Do you have the same view on homosexuality?
Bttt
Nonsense. You don't have to eat a dog turd to know it tastes like crap.
That’s an odd statement.
What’s the difference to you whether your reading Star Traveler’s opinion of a movie or someone else’s?
If you don’t want to read someone else’s opinion then why would you want to read Star Traveler’s?
I must be missing something here..
“If that is your standard, than neither will his honest opinion. It will be just another review.”
Well said, I just posted something along the same lines.
I remember back when I had TV I’d watch Siskel and Ebert. I learned that if Ebert liked it but Siskel didn’t, it was not worth renting.
We don’t do the theater any more. with a 46” set and a blue ray player and a decent Hi-fi, we get a better experience in the home than in any theater. And I rent the movies for free from the library.
I just realized a new movie genre has been created and I didn’t even notice. It’s the “Fiction based on real people” Genre. They put real historical characters in their environment as history records, but then add some ludicrous twists, filling in the blanks with wild speculation, to add entertainment value.
There have been three that I know of:
1. The Last Temptation of Christ
2. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
3. Noah
Are there any others I haven’t thought of?
