“One might argue that many of these issues are rather minor points in the grand scheme of the biblical narrative. But it reveals a cavalier attitude towards the Bible. If they can’t bother to get the smaller points right, then how can we trust them to accurately handle the larger issues”

There’s this horrible but popular praise song at church called Days of Elijah, and it sings about King David building a temple. I remember God telling David he could not build his temple because he was a man of war. It’s minor, but always wondered why so many churches are ok with singing some clear contradiction to the Bible.

It used to be - that singing Christian hymns in church would also serve to teach Christian doctrine. But that’s sure not guaranteed anymore!
