DNA and The Book of Mormon Explained full-length video
FAIR MORMON ^ | Published on Feb 18, 2013

Miraculous claims surrounding the coming forth of the Book of Mormon are an evidence of the prophetic calling of Joseph Smith. Critics intent on discrediting the Restoration point to DNA studies on indigenous American peoples in an attempt to expose Joseph, the Book of Mormon, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as frauds. Claiming that scientific evidence excludes any possibility that Middle Eastern or ancient Jewish travelers came to the Americas in antiquity, such critics attempt to sow seeds of doubt in the minds of Latter-day Saints and those of other faiths concerning the authenticity of the Book of Mormon as an ancient religious text.

Are these studies credible? Do the data actually show what the critics claim? Do they discredit the Book of Mormon, or is there biological and other scientific evidence that supports the claims that it is indeed an ancient record of a people that once inhabited the Americas?

The Foundation for Apologetic Information and Research (FAIR) interviews scholars and scientists to answer these important questions and reveals the faith-affirming truth that not only are the critics' conclusions and methods flawed, but that there is credible scientific evidence in favor of the Book of Mormon as an ancient religious text.

Articles of Faith

13 We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

Yes Joey Smith the guy who invented the Mormonism did plagiarize scriptures from the Christian Bible for that part of his religious tenets...

but Smith was a murderer, an adulterer, an occultist, a child rapist, a thief, a leader of organized crime and he made war on the United States...

he didn’t practice what he preached...

His article 13 did not describe him...

Thank you but it was I being naughty that day I though the poster was being condescending with his handle, and at times his attitude.

So I tweak him a few times calling him puny human...

It doesn't matter.

It is just as wrong for a poster to call Greetings_Puny_Humans "puny" as it is for a poster to call you "resty."

Religion Forum guidelines are even-handed. No pejoratives because that is "making it personal."

This is so funny many of the things in on the plates of Brass were a record of the OT. Nephi family carried them to the Promise land so they would have a record.

The Lord commanded them to take them with them from Laban who was an evil man who would have destroyed a whole nation.

What they say call me anything you want just don’t call me late for dinner...

Some day I know beyond a doubt how that so many believe the record will be set straight if anyone cares for truth

Although the ruling is yours, no one knew there was an “alternative” meaning beyond a nickname

This is unreal.. who knew?

Rest´y

a. 1. Disposed to rest; indisposed toexercton; sluggish; also, restive.
Where the master is too resty or too rich to say his own prayers.
- Milton.

;Resty

If you use resty and want to help maintain it, please let me know and I’ll add you to the repo.

Resty is a tiny script wrapper for curl. It provides a simple, concise shell interface for interacting with REST services. Since it is implemented as functions in your shell and not in its own separate command environment you have access to all the powerful shell tools, such as perl, awk, grep, sed, etc. You can use resty in pipelines to process data from REST services, and PUT or POST the data right back. You can even pipe the data in and then edit it interactively in your text editor prior to PUT or POST.

Cookies are supported automatically and stored in a file locally. Most of the arguments are remembered from one call to the next to save typing. It has pretty good defaults for most purposes. Additionally, resty allows you to easily provide your own options to be passed directly to curl, so even the most complex requests can be accomplished with the minimum amount of command line pain.

Here is a nice screencast showing resty in action (by Jan-Piet Mens).

This is so funny many of the things in on the plates of Brass were a record of the OT

Okaaaay that bit is partly alright...even I have several records of the OT...but they didn't have the whole thing ...there was still hundreds of years to go yet of the OT times...so it wasn't the complete OT if they even had any of it..They would have to be Levites and they werent..

Nephi family carried them to the Promise land so they would have a record.

I thought they were already IN the promised land ??? doesnt Joey Smith claim in his book they left there and went to Guatemala ...plus the writings of the prophets was precious and given by God and kept in Solomons Temple which was still styanding at that time...a copy wasn't given to just anyone..Smith was ignorance gone to seed..

The Lord commanded them to take them with them from Laban who was an evil man who would have destroyed a whole nation.

so Laban had them...where I wonder did he get them since he must not have been a Jew according to your narrative and should not have had them...did Laban steal them from the temple in Jerusalem ??? Well theres no Laban mentioned in the Bible who got anywhere near destroying I presume the Jews...and someone having a copy of the OT less those last few hundred years which had not been lived yet to write about is not going to stop chariots and spears and swords and arrows....Smith never did think this through did he ???

Yes that’s why I said “I thought they were already IN the promised land ???”

Theres only one “Promised land” that’s Israel..

There is no other for the Jews..

and if they left Jerusalem due to the destruction they would have gone as captives with the others to Babylon...

but they would not have gone in the time period that Smith claims...Smith should have read The History of the Hebrews and the Late War and those other books he had available in 1830 a bit closer..

Jerusalem was still standing in 600BC it was years later that it was destroyed..

They had every thing up to 600BC and there were 3 migrations Lehi family was one of them that took place in 600 BC during the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah and also the prophecies of the holy prophets

The Plates of Brass brought by the people of Lehi from Jerusalem in 600 B.C. These contained “the five books of Moses, … and also a record of the Jews from the beginning, … down to the commencement of the reign of Zedekiah, king of Judah; and also the prophecies of the holy prophets” (1 Nephi 5:11–13). Many quotations from these plates, citing Isaiah and other biblical and nonbiblical prophets, appear in the Book of Mormon.
