PRIEST WHO CONVERTED FROM EPISCOPAL CHURCH RELATES NUMEROUS EXPERIENCES WITH SOULS FROM PURGATORY

For Father Lorig, going strong at 77 and full of the Spirit, it's a matter of seeing some of it with his own eyes.

On about a dozen occasions, says the priest, he has personally encountered spirits of the dead, including at bedside during the night, and has been led to pray their souls toward Jesus.

Father Lorig, who was ordained a Catholic priest in 1984, and who is married with four children (and fifteen grandchildren), had some special experiences while at Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church in Nogales (near the Mexican border).

"It was built over an Indian graveyard -- paleo-Indians who were peaceful," says Father Lorig, pastor of Saint Maria Goretti parish (he is not associated with previous claims at this church of the supernatural).

"While we were digging a sacrarium -- a dry well [for proper disposal of Communion wine] -- the workmen came upon hand-made pots. We called the University of Arizona, which had paleontologists, and they came down.

I am familiar with new age stuff, and Roy is nothing of the sort. You and others tend to believe some wrong authorities about him. Roy is hated by some, just as Jesus was.

And you think that those verses refer to salvation of believers in the church age for what reason?

Oh puhlease. Roy is hated just like Jesus was? You sound like a sycophant. There is no room for cults of personality in Christianity.

Not a problem. I had not seen that post because I first saw your post to me directly via "My Posts" in my account. I'm sorry I asked a question you already answered:

"The priest has found an effective formula is to have a Mass said for any soul that seems to be disturbing a place and gently telling the soul, "Call to Jesus. Keep saying 'Jesus' over and over, until He comes.""

I will admit that this is probably the only thing in the whole article that I question. First, because I had never heard of using the Holy Mass to pray for souls that are "disturbing a specific place" (rather than praying for "the Faithful Departed/souls in Purgatory as a group) and I have expressed this a few times in this thread already. Second, I have never heard of saying the things that the priest says during Mass.

Having said that, I have a feeling that this sentence is worded strangely. Although it appears that what he is saying is said *at Mass* it may be that he does the two things in his "formula" separately (ie. both work). Also, regarding your concern that he is communicating with the dead, what about exorcisms? Didn't the apostles exorcise and doesn't that require speaking to the dead (while also praying to the Lord)?

I would want to know more about this part of the article. Unfortunately, this is where the article ended. I am willing to give this priest the benefit of the doubt, but I do wonder whether his actions are in accordance with Catholic teaching/practices.

for your info...anyone shining with his light and standing up for right gets plenty of hatred thrown their way. Jesus said so plainly. So you are twisting my words to fit your awful judgmental of a good Christian leader. Sad.

Whatever. I told you to push his new age stuff elsewhere, I am not interested. If you choose to keep pinging me, be prepared for me to say more things about him that will offend your sensibilities.

You sound very patient, just like the Christian you say you are! And you are also a liar as anyone who listens to Roy at all knows full well he is Judeo Christian in all that he teaches. You are a slanderer and liar and how dare you. And go ahead and make more of an idiot of yourself you wish...you only mock God without even knowing it. It was indeed similarly blind and hypocritical types that Jesus had very harsh words for. Have a good one!

Patience for the works of the antichrist is not something to be desired. You call this man a “Christian leader”, but one must be a Christian first before they can be a Christian leader. To be a Christian, one must confess that Jesus Christ is God... yet Roy Masters denies that Jesus Christ is God, therefore Roy Masters is an antichrist. It’s really that simple. Game, set, match.

I have to admit I have never heard of Roy Masters. How do we know whether he is Christian or not? All I see on that site is that he writes about Christianity. What’s his back story?

What fabian hasn't told you:
Roy Masters: Foundation of Human Understanding

[Reuben Obermeister] came to America in 1949, at age 21, to lecture on diamonds. He legally changed his name to Roy Masters in 1954 (yet never acquired American citizenship) and eventually became a professional hypnotist claiming he could "save people by teaching them self-sufficiency meditative hypnosis." The American Medical Association pressed charges against him for practicing medicine without a license. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail. He likens this "persecution" to the persecution Jesus suffered....

....In lieu of dependence on Jesus Christ for salvation, Masters teaches dependence on his meditation techniques. He teaches that mankind is inherently good, thus there is no need for salvation or a savior. All problems man encounters can be resolved through self effort. "No form of outer assistance can substitute for inner direction. Direction must come always from within. Moved by the spirit of intuition, we move without excitement, effort or strain. The more we exercise our dependency upon the Within, the stronger this relationship becomes, and we know it to be Grace," (How To Keep Your Mind Well, p. 165, Foundation Press, 1971). Though he claims to have been saved by the blood of Christ, he states that "one of the biggest curses in Christendom is the false idea that Jesus is God"....

....Participants in his week-long seminars pay $1,200 and $50 for one-day seminars held across the country. Masters says he wants to be remembered in the same category as Moses, Jesus, the apostles, Buddha, Gandhi, Martin Luther King and John F. Kennedy.

Regarding exorcisms, no I don’t think they require speaking to the dead, because exorcisms are focused on dispelling demonic spirits, not the dead. Perhaps there are some who are using exorcisms for “hauntings” and such, but I would consider any of those phenomena to be the work of demonic spirits anyway, and not the dead, simply because the dead are not free to come and go on earth. You’ll notice that Christ and the apostles were always “casting out demons” or “casting out spirits” and not “casting out ghosts”.

If we took the same prohibition on communicating with the dead and applied it to demonic spirits, then we’d have to ignore any angelic visitors as well, since we know demons masquerade as angels, and if we can’t communicate with them, we can’t test them to see what they are. I think that is where this gentleman went off track in the first place; he doesn’t seem to have been wary enough to test these spirits at all. He either took these spirits at their word, or relied on his own subjective feelings and decided to run with it.

Listen to his show tonight...give him a call. Don’t take others slanted word for it. And Jesus said throughout that he was doing the Fathers will, not his own so where these people come off thinking he is a God is true brainwashing in effect.

If you don't want to believe Jesus Christ's own words, don't believe them.

HE clearly said: Luke 12:58-59 58 As you are going with your adversary to the magistrate, try hard to be reconciled on the way, or your adversary may drag you off to the judge, and the judge turn you over to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison. 59 I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.”-- the prison of hell you cannot get out of, and heaven is no prison, so Christ refers to what? think, metmom, think.

Which seems to me to show that salvation, once attained, cannot be lost.

let's retrace first

What does Jesus say saves us?

Jesus says that if you endure to the end you get salvation, that if you helped your fellow man you inherit the kingdom of God (you get salvation) --> note these are HIS own words

Remember that "He who endures to the end will be saved" (Matt. 24:13; cf. 25:31–46). if one dies in the state of grace with God he will go to heaven. those who rebel against God go to hell.

If you have now said "lord, lord", but then reject Christ, you will go to hell. No "oh, I already said it"

Remember the case of the first parents Adam and Eve who held God's grace and then rejected it.

Lastly, remember "See then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness; otherwise you too will be cut off" - Rom. 11:22

Also, 1 corinthians 9: 24 to 27
24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.

25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.

26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air.

27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

Note that you said Macc. wasn't in the Bible, yet it was clearly in the King James Version Bible first edition -- kind of makes light of Rev 22:19 And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll.

the Bible forbids ALL occult activity involving any type of communion with the dead.

It does? What about asking saints for help? Or talking things over with long-dead ancestors? Or parents? Or siblings? Because the family members, at least, are part of one's life and living memory. In many cultures, they are honored.

But it was never in the Hebrew scriptures, which is why the Protestants correctly took it out.

I’m not going to convince you of this point, nor are you going to convince me. So I am not going to consider arguments based on Maccabees.

Sorry, but that’s the way it is.
