I don't think the majority of them don't embrace violence and religious warfare. Taquiyya (as I understand the concept) commands Muslims to lie to infidels in order to advance Islam, so it stands to reason that they could all be pretending to be little passive, peace-loving sheep, when they're really knife-sharpening wolves, wearing a sheep skin suit.

Same reasons why Christians and Jews don't always follow the Commandments, or Americans the Constitution. Laziness; inertia; regression towards the mean; selfishness; cluelessness, etc. Also, their heirarchy still demands that the Koran be learned in Arabic; whereas the majority of muslims in the world do not speak Arabic. It's as if the Church still demanded that all Christians read the Bible in the original Hebrew and Greek. How many would do so, and how many would just take the priesthood's word for it?

Thus, the imams are running their religion; they unbelieve under threat of death; therefore they go along to get along and try to avoid trouble, like most people. It's their theocratic leadership that is the danger for us.

Their silence or dancing in the streets after 9/11 speaks volumes.
