THE IDEA OF A POPE IS BASED ON A FALSE INTERPRETATION OF SCRIPTURE, THAT JESUS WANTED TO BUILD HIS CHURCH ON PETER, INSTEAD OF HIMSELF. WHY WOULD JESUS BUILD HIS CHURCH ON A SINFUL MAN?

Amen to that!
if it’s not your religion... what does it matter and why criticize the faith of others?
Because of watching smoke you lost your respect? Seems rather fickle.
Yes, I corrected myself in post #8. I thought I heard him say he was Catholic in the past. Obviously, I mis-remembered.
I suspect I will be corrected many more times today.
... and at some times in their lives, sinful.
But why would you, when you can pray to Jesus directly yourself? “There is only one mediator and advocate, Jesus Christ”. I’m asking because I truly want to know the idea behind this prayer to anyone other than Christ, not because I’m arguing.
Doubting Thomas - the gates of hell won’t prevail against the Catholic Church - 2000+ years should give you a hint of what Jesus had in mind.
BTW - God picked out David but I’m sure you would have picked someone not sinful. The only sinless person born was Mary, the mother of Jesus. Now that must really frost you. Cal, you are screwed up. Go to confession and straighten out.
So you have no respect for the church and their unwavering position on pro-life issues, homosexual marriage, social justice, etc? Or how we help feed millions of impoverished people all over the world, or come to their aid when a disaster strikes.
Yeah, we’re pretty awful.
Ummm...
What if they waved a flag to announce a ballot result instead?
How about hanging a lantern, would that do?
Or a cannonade?
Where does the Bible forbid announcing selection of pastors using chimneys, precisely?
Can you cite the passage that has inspired your misgiving on this point?
Considering the frightening challenges facing Christians, this discussion seems to range from silly to schismatic.
Not true. Christ was without sin and he was fully man...!
Christ was not fully man...He is God as man. He is Divine.
He is more than just man.
I think it's remarkable. Now, if the same folks would suddenly wake up and extend the process to the laity ....... why then they'd be more orthodox eh! (a pun), or maybe even Protestant ~ well, some Protestants use election in their ecclesiastical processes. Not everybody does that.
The Cardinals are even supposed to pray for divine guidance in the matter, and a super majority is required!
We'd be doing good to get half that out of our Senate.
I’m so glad Christ loves His Church (the Catholic Church) no matter what you think of it or Him.
Also FTA.....
WHAT ABOUT PRAYING TO MARY AND INDIVIDUAL SAINTS? AGAIN, THERE IS ONLY ONE MEDIATOR BETWEEN GOD AND MAN: THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. TRADITION IN THE CATHLIC CHURCH IS EQUAL TO SCRIPTURE. THAT, TOO, IS UNBIBLICAL.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
Catholics walk a tight-rope when they claim they don’t pray to dead people; that they only “ask” those dead people to ask Christ for this or that.
That argument falls off the tight-rope every time.
Where is your Biblical proof for Mary not having original sin?
... and at some times in their lives, sinful.
Not sure what you mean.
“The only sinless person born was Mary, the mother of Jesus. Now that must really frost you. Cal, you are screwed up.”
God’s word says otherwise: Romans 3:23
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
I could have sworn he was Catholic too. I thought I actually remembered him saying it on Fox News Watch. Maybe he was making a point about ‘small c’ vs. ‘big c’ Catholic or something.
