President Obama began his Inauguration Day by attending worship services at St. John’s Episcopal Church in the Nation’s Capital along with his wife Michelle and their daughters Sasha and Malia.
It was a rare church appearance for the First Family. During, during their first four years residing in the White House, they found time for the Lord not even half as many times as they managed to get away for family vacays.
After services yesterday at St. Johns, during which the president stood to receive a blessing from Bishop Vashti McKenzie, the First Family’s next stop was the U.S. Capitol, where Mr. Obama delivered his second Inaugural Address.
What amazed was the number of religious references the president made as he spoke to the hundreds of thousands assembled on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., and the millions more of us watching around the country.
It was so unlike Mr. Obama to speak of “the tenets of our faith.” To agree with the nation’s founders that we are all, everyone, “endowed by our Creator” with certain inalienable rights.
To declare “freedom is a gift from God.” To mention “the eyes of God.” To profess that the planet is “commanded to our care by God.” To advocate the freedom of “every soul on Earth.” To affirm his “oath to God and country.”
Then, to wrap up his remarks not only with the perfunctory “God bless you,” but also by beseeching the Almighty to “forever bless the United States of America.”
I’d like to believe that the President recently experienced some sort of religious transformation, like Saul of Tarsus blinded by the light of the Savior on the road to Damascus.
I’d like to believe that his recent church attendance and religion-infused Inaugural Address are tell-tale signs that he will govern in his second term according to Godly principles.
But, alas, I am unconvinced.
Not the least because of Mr. Obama’s reiteration of his presidential support for homosexual marriage.
“Our journey is not complete,” he said yesterday, “until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law. For if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well.”
I also found it noteworthy that Mr. Obama neglected to mention abortion, purposely ignoring the fact that the day after his inauguration is the 40th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s unholy decision in Roe v. Wade.
It would have been wonderful if the president had noted the anniversary and stood up for the right to life of the unborn the way he stood up for the supposed right of homosexuals to marry each other.
But the president was silent, signaling his continued support for the nation’s abortionists.
Jesus warned, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.”
President Obama said “Lord, Lord” in his Inaugural Address. But he most certainly is not doing the will of the Father.
Bam said the most beautiful sound was the call to prayer in the Arab world. He probably is the 1st pres, to have a prayer rug in the oval office.
Even demons can distort God’s Word.
When obama cries out lord, he is talking about himself.
He is a communist, with strong sympaties for Islam.
He is not a Christian. But Saint John’s has jumped the shark and seems to no longer be Christian either.
What we can expect to see is O and his crew trying to use Christian symbols and language to prop up and further their agenda. If your Christianity tends to focus on symbols and turns of phrase, you might be fooled. If you pay any attention at all to what he actually does and the actual meaning of what he says, you know exactly what he is.
he received a blessing? I would have given him a curse.
I believe the evangelical community which failed to show up at the last election have sown some bitter seeds.
I wouldn’t trust him if he swore on a stack of bibles.
Yes, he did, didn’t he.
I don’t care whether he believes or not. I do know that anyone who wishes to redefine marriage as a sodomite activity, promotes abortion, allows for the death of a living premie all because it was aborted and left to die, thinks that taking from those who work to give to those who will not, trys to destroy and fracture the Catholic Church and those who live their faith, fights endless wars with tools he is more than happy to discard when they are damaged, is vindictive and petty, and most of all, LIES constantly is not my definition of a follower.
FWIW, God can judge. While I cannot judge a human heart, I most certainly can judge someone’s actions.

Wonder what it would look like if he really encountered the living Jesus? We can pray for it to happen anyeway - might be the only way there’s anything left of the country for the next president to mess up.
