Vatican Article Likens Gay Marriage to Communism
Seattle Post-Intelligencer ^ | 1/14/13 | Joel Connolly

The Vatican has taken multiple blasts at same-sex marriage in the last month, just as it is on the way to becoming legal in Britain and France, and as a poll by an evangelical-backed organization finds opposition in the United States on the wane.

A front-page article in L’Osservatore Romano, the Vatican newspaper, likens marriage equality to 20th-century communism, reports the Religion News Service, saying it is equal to “the egalitarian utopia that did so much damage during the 20th Century . . . deceiving humanity as socialism did in the past.”

The Vatican blast follows a Christmas season message of peace from Pope Benedict XVI, in which the pontiff spoke of protecting traditional marriage from “attempts to make it juridically equivalent to radically different types of unions.”

The pope spoke of “a crisis that threatens (the family in Western society) to its foundations,” condemning “a new philosophy of sexuality” which teaches that “sex is no longer a given element of nature” but a “social role to choose for ourselves.”

But marriage-equality bills are moving through the parliament in London, the assembly in Paris, and been upheld by the courts in Spain. And voters in Washington, Maryland and Maine approved same-sex marriage last November, while Minnesota voters rejected a bid — backed by the Catholic Church — to write a ban on marriage equality into the state constitution.

"I do NOT count as a “noise source” all sources with which I disagree."

I know what you mean and I agree.

With the HHS mandate a clear "put up or shut up" situation, those who are not in court to fight the mandate makes for a long list of "odd juxtapositions" these days. Especially when looking down the list of those who reside in little ivory tower villages and claim to be champions of liberty and freedom.

I simply pointed out the Jesus used the same word when addressing Peter as He did when addressing the devil. Not a good sign.

Galatians 2:11-14 But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned. 12 For before certain men came from James, he was eating with the Gentiles; but when they came he drew back and separated himself, fearing the circumcision party.

13 And the rest of the Jews acted hypocritically along with him, so that even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy. 14 But when I saw that their conduct was not in step with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all, “If you, though a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you force the Gentiles to live like Jews?”

He sure didn't get off to a good start as pope.

There's this and then the case where James was the head of the Jerusalem council in Acts 15.

There's precious little in Scripture to support the role that Catholic claim is his.

Even his own epistles don't make any mention of it, don't give any directives about managing the church, passing on apostolic succession, making any mention of being in or even visiting Rome or anything else that Catholic seem to consider important or relevant to Catholicism.

The more one does research the more one finds that much of the Catholic Church mantra is made up of Christian and pagan dogma and rituals. I think if Catholics would study the influence that Simon Magus had on RCC beliefs they would be appalled with what the RCC really is.

The word “false” does not attribute motive unlike the word “lie” which attributes motive: the intent to deceive. Therefore, the word “false” does not “make it personal” whereas the word “lie” does “make it personal.”

It is NOT Personal, unless you took it personally !

26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.”

Nah, not personal to point out that your posts have zero factual accuracy. In short your posts contain false statements. Might be good for you to read something, right?

I am some ignorant redneck that believes and has faith that the Bible is perfect and has been since it was written.

Good for you. you'll then have problems with the cynical posters who believe that the Bible was distorted by the Church and who reject the divinity of Christ and keep babbling what they think is Judaism -- shma yebbla bebbla

THE RITES OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH -- There are many!

Why would I want to review Traditions
begun by a Babylonian Pontiff.
I have YHvH's WORD.

Pontifex Maximus is the name of the demon
who leads souls across the river Styx into Hell.

Seek YHvH in His WORD.

Classic straw man argument. No where in Matthew 16:23 does it say that Jesus took the keys away from Peter. Note that in Matthew 16:18 Jesus says that he will give the keys to Peter but not right at that moment. Also, I’m afraid that you’re attributing Papal Infallibility to impeccability. Acts 15:8 by the way is not a contradiction between the Apostles having the authority to forgive sins and God granting them the Holy Spirit. Btw, you forgot to capitalize Holy Spirit or part of it anyway.
