In the elections aftermath, the culture war looks like a rout. Few ever relished this fight; most preferred simply to be left alone. We arent community organizers. Sadly, neutrality was not realistic. No, being Switzerland was never an option. By not defending Americas heritage of limited government, free markets and biblical morality, were being overrun a la Belgium.
Powerful forces array. Christians consider this battle in spiritual terms. Conservatives sense a political donnybrook. Others deplore eroding standards of conduct and lost liberty. The Left vies for our childrens hearts, souls and minds. While no majority, progressives dominate the dissemination of thought. The mainstream media, entertainment industries, education system and much of government skew very far left.

I also hear that supposedly before Jesus Comes, we’ll be in a state of global anarchy. Real question is, when governments go corrupt, and AWOL, much less make religion the uncool thing to be, who will stay, and who will decide to go with the “cool” crowd? And who can we save when the Earthly politicians ditch their useful idiots?

Jesus will know those who stay with Him, regardless of whatever persecutions may come. He won’t recognize those who went with the “cool” crowd when they stand before the Father. It is all as it is supposed to be. This is the culmination of 6000 years of training that began in the Garden.
We can’t save anyone. All we can do is deliver the Good News and pray that they listen. And we also pray that we have the strength to get through what is coming.
Ravi Zacharias is one of my favorite preachers, and he’s absolutely right. (I’m Catholic, btw, but what he and Pope Benedict are saying is practically identical.)
I think probably the most seriously negative impact of the 2012 elections is that now the “liberal Christians” feel empowered, and they’re going to try to drive us out.
Bible-believing Christians will have children and bring them up in “the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” The ungodly champion the killing of their unborn.
Psalm 1 will always be true.
Biblical Christians ARE NOT OF THIS WORLD to start with. We’re just passing through. The train will be here soon to pick us up.
Don't let the door hit you etc.
A lot of credibility was lost supporting a pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, cult leading Mormon Bishop from Massachusetts, who believes that he is in the process of becoming a God, who actually campaigned claiming that Reagan was “adamantly pro-choice”, and who recently rejected the party platform on abortion and on homosexual Scout leaders, and homosexualizing the military.
I don’t know that it can be recovered anytime soon.
"... by the Republican Party."
Absolutely not true. Faith, by definition, is believing in something without absolute proof, or having reasonable assurance that something is true. There are a lot of things in life that we believe in without absolute proof. For example, most of us believe that the earth rotates on an imaginary axis to give the effect of the sun rotating around the earth. We believe this to be true because many authority figures in our lives have faith that it is true and have passed that faith (reasonable assurance) on to us. How many of us have seen an electron? None, but we still believe in electricity and use it to enhance our lives greatly.
Exactly and no they won’t
Oddly, or perhaps not, Christianity grows most when it is in a minority without government support. Look at Rome before Constatine, or modern day China. Not long ago some American pastors met with some Chinese underground pastors and said they would help them with Bibles, ministers, and money for buildings, The pastors said they didn’t want the help, that Christianity was exploding because people had to practice it in their homes, share Bibles, and become their own ministers.
Wow ... that comment is insane on several levels ... faith is by definition the surrender of reason ??? What ?!?
Ping for later
“Rest easy, salvation does not come via government.”
Amen brother. Christians need to get used to the idea of practicing their beliefs in secret. It won’t be long before Christianity is deemed too (fill in the adjective) for modern day culture and is BANNED.
From a Forbes reader:I would also point out that faith is by definition the surrender of reason; the one thing that most clearly separates humans from other animals! Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. - Saint Paul, Letter to the Hebrews 11:1 (King James Version)
The author would have us live in a morally depraved country where anything goes so long as a religious authority can justify it using some ancient text. No thank you. We dont need an American Taliban!Seen one ancient text youve seen them all, eh? They all say the same things? That is a prejudice, defined as a vagrant thought with no visible means of support."By their fruits ye shall know them is biblical - but is it an abandonment of reason? To the contrary, it is precisely logical. If I find a pear growing on a tree, its not going to matter how many times you insist its an oak tree - the thing speaks for itself. Likewise Christianity and the American polity - this polity is the fruit of Christianity, not of Islam. Islam has been the established religion in many countries, and it has never produced anything approximating a democratic republic except for Turkey, which is reverting to type even now. It is an absolute slander of Christianity to associate it with the Taliban. In fact, I would go so far as to suggest that belief in any serious similarity between the two represents an abandonment of reason.
Anyone who would believe that would also probably believe that the Israelis had initiated the war with Gaza, and was committing war crimes by attacking civilians. Well, guess what! The Geneva Conventions are a prohibition of the type of behavior - using human shields, for example (which is precisely the intent of emplacing military rockets cheek-by-jowl with civilians) which Israels enemies routinely engage in in the hope that Israeli counter fire against said batteries will kill civilians.
14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
