Nonsense!

Heaven is our reward.

"But, as it is written: That eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither hath it entered into the heart of man, what things God hath prepared for them that love him."
1 Corinthians 2:9

That's all I need to know about it.

I'm sure some people get a great deal of comfort by thinking of the afterlife, but IMHO focusing too much on the afterlife easily turns into a focus on something other than actively following Christ. People who can ignore the realities of contraception because they have preconceptions about being sexually active are definitely going to be prone to accepting error or heresy if it fits with their preconception of what the afterlife will be like.

I’d like to believe that I will be doing play by play of the Archangels vs. the Seraphim in old Yankees Stadium.
I know there are only 7 archangels but heavenly scouting reports say Michael is so fast he can play the entire outfield.

This same reasoning teaches that the nature of mind and spirit is bodily; for when it is seen to drive forward the limbs, to arouse the body from sleep, to change the countenance, to guide and steer the whole man, and we see that none of these things can be done without touch, and further that there is no touch without body, must we not confess that mind and spirit have a bodily nature?

Lucretius, circa 50 B.C

This and many other arguments of Lucrietius in his DE RERUM NATURA appear to me ironclad. To me it is a source of inspiration and amazement that they could have been enunciated so clearly at such an early date, because we often assume that such ideas are the product of modern scientific cynicism. Lucretius stands, ironically, as a sort of patron saint of materialism.

1 Corinthians 2:9

9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

As a musician I believe I will be creating glorious music in a glorious heaven in a glorious room in the glorious mansion.

But my mind is small.

I have a vision of what my experience will be:

SAINT PETER: We have a dataset on all the joys of Heaven. We were wondering if you could program it to produce regular reports.

ME: Sure. How big is the dataset?

SAINT PETER: Well, it’s infinite, actually.

ME: Hmmm. That may cause some very long processing times.

SAINT PETER: Not really. Our servers are very quick. But you might want to read up on the ALEPH function and PROC CANTOR.

ME: Always good to learn something new. Once you set up my account, I will get started.

SAINT PETER: Your account is all ready to go. And if you have any problems, the database administrator gets no greater joy than helping you. Even if you have to ask him a thousand questions a day.

ME: This is Heaven!

Well, when Darryl Strawberry gets there, he can take an outfield slot. He could do it for both sides.

Strawberry fields forever.

As a maintenance guy I could see St Peter telling me: “There seems to be a problem with the gates, you think you could take a look at them?”

Just be careful of the competition.

The Union guy, the small business guy and the illegal immigrant all bid on the repair work and gave St. Peter a quote.

The illegal said $500. The small business man said $700. The Union guy quoted St. Pete $4500. St. Pete asked him why so much more? “Two grand for you, two for me, and we get the illegal to fix it”.

One thing I know will be left out of work in Heaven - frustration, disappointment, politics, favoritism LOL

> My old pastor told us all that when I was in confirmation classes.

> It will be work, but not toil.

> Growing up like I did, I liked the sound of that.

That’s going to be a very crowded broadcast booth I’m afraid, just like all the crowded Broadway stages and movie studios.

Yes, because the thief on the cross was told “Verily, later on, after you get through ‘purgatory’, you will be with me in paradise”.

Did you hear about the time Satan challenged God to a game?

God said, "You don't stand a chance--I have all the best players."

Satan replied, "That's true--but I have all the umpires!"
