Today is Pentecost Sunday for Christians...
I said “Christians”
I didnt say any home grown false religion that misuses the name...
and doesnt believe in the Trinity...
Before He went back to Heaven from where He had come and where He had ALWAYS been...
The LORD Jesus Christ told His disciples..
If I go away I will send ANOTHER Comforter...John 14:16
While in the Greek the word comforter is parakletos, meaning intersessor, helper, consoler, advocate, comforter...
The word the LORD Jesus Christ for another is uses “allos” which means another LIKE me..another just the same..
and yet to Mormons their Mormon holy ghost is not God but is only equal to a mascot, a lap dog..with no power..
While all the time He is God..
The Third Person of the Trinity..
Mormons dont believe that Jesus is God...
Mormons dont believe that the Holy Spirit is God...,
and they believe that their Mormon god is in several parts...gods...
but The LORD Jesus Christ clearly told us that that is not true...
The LORD Jesus Christ...the Second Person of the Trinity the Word of God could not be here on Earth at the same time as the Third Person of the Trinity...
although Mormon try to say that it has happened to their own gods.....

Do these teachings and beliefs make any practical difference in how ordinary Mormons live their lives? When I was mormon, the beliefs had a great deal to do with how I lived my life...what I ate, drank, the underwear I wore, the constant attempt to adhere to all the rules and regulations regarding my "worthiness" to work my way to mormon salvation.
We mormons were constantly reminded of the superiority of our "one true church" and the idea that only those of us who were "temple-worthy" could ever hope to dream of attaining the highest "kingdom" of mormon heaven where God resides.
In order to have a "temple recommend" that is required for one to take part in the rituals required for salvation, these questions by one's bishop must be answered satisfactorily:
Temple Recommend questions.
1 Do you have faith in and a testimony of God the Eternal Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost?
2 Do you have a testimony of the Atonement of Christ and of His role as Savior and Redeemer?
3 Do you have a testimony of the restoration of the gospel in these the latter days?
4 Do you sustain the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as the Prophet, Seer, and Revelator and as the only person on the earth who possesses and is authorized to exercise all priesthood keys? Do you sustain members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as prophets, seers, and revelators? Do you sustain the other General Authorities and local authorities of the Church?
5 Do you live the law of chastity?
6 Is there anything in your conduct relating to members of your family that is not in harmony with the teachings of the Church?
7 Do you support, affiliate with, or agree with any group or individual whose teachings or practices are contrary to or oppose those accepted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?
8 Do you strive to keep the covenants you have made, to attend your sacrament and other meetings, and to keep your life in harmony with the laws and commandments of the gospel?
9 Are you honest in your dealings with your fellowmen?
10 Are you a full-tithe payer?
11 Do your keep the Word of Wisdom?
12 Do you have financial or other obligations to a former spouse or children? If yes, are you current in meeting those obligations?
13 If you have previously received your temple endowment:
Do you keep the covenants that you made in the temple?
Do you wear the garment both night and day as instructed in the endowment and in accordance with the covenant you made in the temple?
14 Have there been any sins or misdeeds in your life that should have been resolved with priesthood authorities but have not been?
15 Do you consider yourself worthy to enter the Lord's house and participate in temple ordinances?
For an explanation of temple rituals that in mormon doctrine bind God to man's covenants,

Yes, the "average mormon housewife" may not fully understand the doctrine, or be aware of Joseph Smith's many wives or other history but she will indeed be following the rules and regulations if she hopes to have her family with her in "eternity".

Mormons are decent well behaved God fearing people.
___________________________________________
Behaving well ???
Yes it can be an aquired practiced trait...
Decent ??? polygamy ???
“God fearing people ...”
Hardly..
They honor, sustain” and belie in Joey Smith as their “prophet”..l the one who will let them into their Mormon after life..
the same Joey Smith who spat in the face of God of the Bible and mocked Him by starting his own anti-Judeo-Christian religion and including the breaking of each of the Ten Commandments as tenets and doctrines and necessary for “atonement...”
Especially adultery in the form of polygamy as required in Mormonism in order to not be damned and required for godship as their “heavenly father” and his literally begat son the mormon jesus did to go from mankind in which they started and to evolve and progress to gods...
What was that you said about fear of God ???

The problem comes in them placing faith in a false Jesus. Christ is a member of a one and three entity. Essentially, the Mormon faith will not save the Mormon. If we care for them we will be ready to share the true gospel with them. To be prepared, we must know the differences ourselves.Excellent post.

You’re welcome to believe however you like. If voting for a so-called protestant would violate your conscience, would you do it anyway to get a desired political outcome? If so, wouldnt that be like telling God you dont really trust him? That’s what it would be to me, and that’s why Mitt wont get my vote. The ends do not justify the means.
BTW, “protest-ant” was not a term those Christians took on of their own accord. It was a term of derision applied to them by their opponents in the Catholic church to discredit them through ridicule. Alinsky-before-Alinsky. Kill the messenger. Pay no attention to the message. Luther never wanted to leave the RC Church. He just wanted it to get back to its Augustinian roots. I have a lot of respect for the contributions of RC thinkers and believers. Im a natural law guy to the core. I’d be RC today if it weren’t for a host of post-patristic doctrinal accretions that have no basis in Scripture.
But at least we both see the same God. Mormonism isnt even referenced to the God of Abraham. More kinship to the Babylonian pantheon (multiplicity of gods).
See, as people always say here at FR, words have meaning. There is a very respectable argument that you and I are both Christians. Mormonism cannot make a rational argument to that effect. And thats fine. The Constitution allows them to run for office, as much as any Christian or Buddhist or Pagan.
That does not mean I have to ignore the fact that they have no proper doctrinal or historical claim to the term Christian. Nor must I shut off the faith part of my brain when I enter the voting booth. I am a free American and I am empowered by both natural law and the First Amendment to use whatever criteria I see fit in choosing who to vote or not vote for. So are you.

Well said. I get so tired of these Mormon bashers wasting bandwidth on this junk!
Let’s spend our time getting rid of Obama!!!!

This thread is posted in the Religion Forum. The subject of the thread is religious. I suggest you refrain from clicking on threads with "mormon" or "mormonism" in the title if religious subjects "tire" you.
From the Religion Moderator:
This thread is posted in the Religion Forum. The main guideline here is to "discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal." Attributing motives to other Freepers and reading their minds are forms of "making it personal."
If you do not wish to see RF posts, do NOT use the "everything" option on the browse. Instead, browse by "News/Activism." When you log back in, the browse will reset to "everything" - so be sure to set it back to "News/Activism."

Your making a distinction where there is no difference. Read the post again, that is not what is going on but the writer attempts to obscure the intent. I'll comment where I like BTW, thank you.

Christians find no reason to doubt the words of the Lord Jesus when He said, Scripture cannot be broken (John 10:35), and [h]eaven and earth shall pass away but my words shall not pass away (Mat. 24:35).
We MORMONs agree this is truly in the BIBLE; but what is PROBABLY missing is the phrase: "after the restoration of Joseph".
Making the reading thus:
After the restoration of Joseph, scripture cannot be broken (John 10:35)

I dont feel impelled to defend Mormonism or any other religion, except from the standpoint that we have religious freedom in America. Gee, that's too bad. No 'faith contending' for you; a Catholic; eh?
"Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the 'whore of Babylon' whom the Lord denounces by the mouth of John the Revelator as having corrupted all the earth by their fornications and wickedness. Any person who shall be so corrupt as to receive a holy ordinance of the Gospel from the ministers of any of these apostate churches will be sent down to hell with them, unless they repent"

IOW I dont give a rats rear about Mormonism. Can I then assume you do not care if false things are said about your chosen religion?
