Some things for all to consider. Why not have you child baptized as an infant?

What if they should die the next week?

Why, they’d go straight to hell. Right?

Points to remember: any Christian can baptize a person. In an emergency there is no problem if you have water.

Because Baptism doesn’t save a person, no less an infant who doesn’t know what it means to be “born again” (John Ch. 3).

God’s grace rules for those young among us who don’t know any better. -J.S.

First of all, I doubt that there are any infants in hell, if, perchance, I am wrong, I doubt they are there because they were not baptized. In the same voice, I doubt there are any infants in heaven just because they were baptized.

If G-d is in the habit of condemning infants to eternity in hell or a lengthy time in a limbo state just because they missed baptism, he is not the G-d of the bible and, mayhap, a god I don’t wish to entrust my eternal salvation to.

Saying that, I have entrusted my eternal salvation to Him and therefore know He would never condemn and infant to hell or any mythical limbo.

Baptism is a voluntary offering to God indicating that you publicly acknowledge that Jesus is your savior and infants can’t voluntarily do anything except eat, sleep and poop.

Baptism is a symbol. Water does not save you. Baptism does not save you. The cross does not save you, nor does the Pope, priests, nuns, preachers, the church, or any human living or dead. You can certainly be told about Christ from these people...but that’s where it ends. Your relationship with Christ is personal.

I remember my parents most fondly for the fact that they baptized me as a baby. While I understand that had I chosen to be baptize as an adult, that, too would have been a valid baptism, it is the greatest gift to be baptized BEFORE it is a decision of an adult mind.

Thank you, mom and dad. You were not perfect, but this is something you did just right.

If you think your child who only lived one hour is going to Hell because you didn't have it baptized before he/she died, you have no understanding of God at all.

What a cruel doctrine.

Repent and be baptized. In that order.

When this was first brought up a couple thousand years ago Anabaptists were killed by the thousands for disagreeing.

What if they should die the next week?

Providing some fearmongering, eh???  To keep the gullible parents in bondage to the Catholic religion...

The young children will  then go straight into the arms of Jesus...

Rom 4:8  Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Rom 3:20  Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Rom 7:7  What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

Where the is no faith and no Law, conscience is the factor in judgment..

.Rom 2:14  For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
Rom 2:15  Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

This is where young children and babies fall into the mix...They don't have the capacity for the knowledge of saving faith nor do know and understand God's Law...They will be judged on their conscience...

Try that on a baby...

“The Church and parents deny a child the priceless grace of becoming a child of God were they not to confer baptism shortly after birth. “

Utterly wrong. Where do people come up with this stuff?

However, I do not think it follows that we ought to disregard or substantially delay a sacrament which Jesus commands

Jesus delayed His until He was thirty. Adult believers were baptized after their confession of belief.

Longest we ever waited was for #2 son. He was born on 9/23 in NJ, and we waited til we went home to MS at Christmas so his Priest-Uncle could baptize him.
