After numerous failed doomsday predictions, Family Radio founder Harold Camping announced this month that he has no plans to predict ever again the day of God's Judgment. He also issued an apology to listeners, admitting that he was wrong.
"We have learned the very painful lesson that all of creation is in God's hands and He will end time in His time, not ours!" a statement on Family Radio's website reads. "We humbly recognize that God may not tell His people the date when Christ will return, any more than He tells anyone the date they will die physically."
Camping, 90, has made predictions about Judgment Day, Christ's return and the end of the world for the past few decades with the May 21, 2011, forecast receiving the most media attention. Each time the date passed, he did not admit to mistaking the timing but instead reasoned that the events happened "spiritually" rather than physically.

And then in a weird case of irony, immediately afterwards, the world actually ended.
My wife wouldn't let us.
Damn shame.
Now if we can get 20 or 30 FReepers to likewise admit they are clueless as to the timing of the end of the world, we could save FR loads of speculative bandwidth. :-)
ROLF!!!!!
ROFL!!!!!
You are forgiven Mr Camping. Now please retire.
Christians from the earliest of days thought Judgment Day was right around the corner.
I am happy to hear that. I hope he gives back the money he got to spread the news of the end of the world.
I know (look at my tag line). I was looking forward to a lot of folks booking my companies services (”We will look after all your money, your houses, jewellery etc. for FREE after the rapture”). dangnamitt
Praised be Jesus Christ, and another one gets it!
Time for him to convert to Catholicsm - why stop where he’s at before he passes - go for the FULLness of understanding Christ’s message.
Hey, any excuse to dig into the chocolate bon bons!
Hahahaha! Now that’s funny!
Catholicsm does not have all the answers - any person who believes by faith is called a Christian - believer - saint by GOD ALMIGHTY. The most important thing is to be known by God as a Christian - believer - saint.... and not known by the label of Catholic...
Here is where God declares that a Christian - believer - saint is saved, justified by faith without the deeds of the law:
Romans 3:28: Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Romans 5:1: Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Galatians 2:16: Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Galatians 2:20: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
II Corinthians 5:18: And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation
Here is where God calls ALL believers - Saints - which we all are today:
Romans 1:7: To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
I Corinthians 1:2: Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
Romans 8:27: And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Romans 12:13: Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.
Romans 15:25: But now I go unto Jerusalem to minister unto the saints.
Romans 15:26: For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem.
Romans 15:31: That I may be delivered from them that do not believe in Judaea; and that my service which I have for Jerusalem may be accepted of the saints
Romans 16:2: That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also.
Romans 16:15: Salute Philologus, and Julia, Nereus, and his sister, and Olympas, and all the saints which are with them.
But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. (21) And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? (22) When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him. (Deut. 18:20-22)
The Bible makes it clear regarding the return of the Son of Man: "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father." (Mark 13:32). Men who claim to know are "anti-christs" and liars.
Revelation 22: 12 "And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last."
IMHO, what was expressed in the Bible by Jesus was that GOD did not set a date.
He set a 'condition'.
There is a big difference between TIME and TIMING.
One cannot predict the 'day' nor find it in religious works. Jesus didn't even know 'when'. But the Bible does describe the 'conditions'.
IMHO, the most important condition is when EVIL in man dominates GOOD.
I was just reading this thread for recreation and didn't intend to post to it, but your statement there actually strikes me as having a ring of possibility to it. Maybe it's the irony of the situation.
I have on occasion had this dream where Buddy Holly turns out to be actually still alive (he's been stranded on some deserted island or something). The news electrifies the world, he releases a new hit single, than he dies for real.
This actually sort of happened with Lefty Frizzell in 1975. He'd been a giant in the Fifties and early sixties but then suddenly just sort of disappeared. Then one day in 1975 he releases his first single in years and promptly dies.
Bobby Fischer seems to have played by the same scenario. He becomes world chess champion, defaults the championship, goes absolutely crazy and disappears. Then one day he suddenly shows up, blames the Jews for Communism, plays in Yugoslavia, and then he up and dies.
This is all very unnerving.
Soooo....1942, right?
That is also the date Jerseylicous(sp?) star Snooki is due to to deliver her offspring.
Coincidence? I think not!
