Pastors to participate in 24-hour "sexperiment" on top of church

A Texas pastor and his wife known

for their frank talk on sex, religion and marriage are planning to spend 24

hours in bed on the roof of their church for everyone to see.

"For far too long, the church has kicked the bed out

and God out of bed," pastor Ed Young said.

At Fellowship Church in Grapevine, a bed is front and center

to explore the subject of sex within marriage.

"It's all about recognizing the importance of sex,"

his wife and fellow pastor, Lisa Young, said.

Ed and Lisa Young will not only be preaching about sex and marriage,

but this Friday they will also spend 24 hours in bed on top of their massive

Grapevine megachurch, encouraging married couples to have more sex.

"Basically the Bible says and God says I made love, so

you can make love in marriage," Ed Young said.p>

They are trying to help couples re-establish the special

bond many husbands and wives put on the back burner.

"I think for years people have carried their own sexual

baggage, into reading about sex in the Bible. They've only talked about the

don't do's, instead of the do's," Ed Young said.

Married almost 30 years with four children, the Youngs

believe sex connects, and ask couples to have sex for seven days in a row. They

call it "the sexperiment."

"This is about discovering intimacy," Lisa Young said.

Something they said their congregation was clamoring for.

"You actually said 'I want to challenge you with seven

days of sex.' The men stood and gave a standing ovation," she said.

The "sexperiment" is based on the Youngs' new

book, which looks at how fatigue, boredom and children can lead to marriage's

demise, and how more sex can rekindle connection.

"What we want to say is look there's a way to do, a way

to do it right… do it successfully," Lisa Young said.

The couple also shared personal ways to make your partner

desire more sex.

"We always like to say what God created is never

x-rated," Ed Young said.

The pastors said it is a gift from God, meant to please your

greatest love for a lifetime.

"We've looked at sex too casually. It's not a casual

thing, it's a profound thing, and it's definitely not a profane thing," Ed

Young said.

The couple's "sexperiment" will be streamed live

on the web.

having sex on the roof of your religious meeting -house and televising it is unorthodox, yes....

Make it up as you go?

The Youngs say there will obviously be no hanky panky when they’re atop Fellowship Church

The roof of the church they're going to have sex on -

If you had searched for 3 minutes for something other than pictures you would of found that they said "obviously there will be no hanky panky" while on camera.

That said, what they do when not on camera may be another story. More power to them.

I'd be willing to bet that they will not perform even one sex act in the entire 24 hour period. They might sit on the bed, they might lie in the bed, but they will not "have sex" in the bed.

Your thoughts . . .

So what’s the punchline?

Is that your steeple, or are you just happy to see me?

Try this new drink, honey, it's called, a "roofie."

Question, "When your're having sex on the roof, do you ever fake an apex?"

Uh...OK...Am I to infer, then, that whilst in bed, on top of the church, the good vicar and his wife will be providing an object lesson for their congregation?

When I read your comment, all I could think of was John Cleese in "The Meaning of Life" doing a sex-ed class with his wife in front of a bunch of teenage boys, LOL!

If you've seen the movie, you'll understand.

What a sad excuse for a Christian preacher.

I happened to have been in his father’s church (2nd Baptist - Houston) years ago when visiting friends in the area. Our friend had to drop something off for a relative at 2nd Baptist on a week day and invited us to come in to see it. All I can say is that it was like a (faux) “Christian” megamall/social club, complete with restaurant, health club, mall-like advertising etc. Standing in the utterly barren “sanctuary,” I got literally sick to my stomach. The only focal point in that huge room could have been the pastor himself ... which about says it all. It may be that the pastor is Christian and some of the people there, but it would be more by accident than design. This is commercialized Christianity of the worst kind, all bound up in a personality cult. So, it looks like the son has gone the father one better. Sick.

I've not seen "The Meaning of Life", but I've heard it's pretty funny so it's on my list of stuff to see. And since I do like Monty Python, and given the thread topic, here's one of my favorite MP skits.

The big question, in any of these “marathon” stunts, is, “What about using the bathroom?”

This is exactly what is wrong with the American church. Let’s see how much entertainment value we can get out of a “message.”

This isn’t new for Fellowship...he’s had a tank, a Ferrari, anything that can add shock value to his sermon.

I wonder if the Holy Spirit is grieved in any way by anyone (not just this church) that uses shock value to water down the Word of God....it’s powerful enough standing alone.

Just sayin’...
