Trolling a bit admittedly, but it appears that even if Romney secures the nomination, he is destined to lose due to good, old-fashioned religious bigotry. Follow the link to the poll.

Well this is a change. At least, I’m not being called a racist.

LDS definitely is a weird out factor to more conventional Christians. No doubt about it. Call it “bigotry” or what you will.

Mittens faith IS NOT what we have an issue with - in fact it is meaningless.

Oh I doubt if Romney’s bigoted anti-Christian religion is going to cause him to lose the GOP nomination or the White House...

Romney’s liberalism is quite enough...

I must disagree. Religious bigotry is not Romney’s problem with the Conservative base of the GOP; Romney’s problem with Conservatives is his liberal history and his stubborn defense of RomneyCare. Being called a “religious bigot” for opposing Romney is like being called a “racist” for opposing Obama.

Mitt’s a big-govt, liberal statist. That’s way worse then any religion right there.

Among Republicans, 48% said they would vote for a Mormon, 29% said they would not, 23% did not offer an opinion.

Democrats were less likely to vote for a Mormon presidential candidate with 46% saying they would not, 28% said they would, 27% had no opinion.

Independents said they would vote for a Mormon by a narrow margin with 39% saying they would vote for a Mormon versus 34% who said they would not. Twenty-seven percent of Independents did not have an opinion on the question.

So, just who are the bigots?

Maybe should do a followup, and ask those same Democrats if they also would not vote for an Evangelical or a strict (not a Kennedy/Pelosi-type) Catholic...or a Muslim.

LDS definitely is a weird out factor to more ANY conventional Christian. No doubt about it. Call it “TRUTH” or what you will.

LDS are NOT Christian in ANY interpretation of their "Gospel".

The Book of Mormon is sitting 6 inches from my fingers as I type. Prove me wrong with their own scripture, if you can...

It’s not about Romney’s religion just as my opposition to Obama is not about his race, religion, or preference for arugula and wagyu steaks. The problem with Romney is that he is not conservative, will say anything to get elected, and in general has no core beliefs. In addition, Romney is the guy that lost to the last pitiful Republican candidate. Why would he do any better against Obama this time around? Obama, on the other hand, has firm liberal beliefs. Romney would do nothing to right this country. It would be the same old politics.

That said, the whole field is disappointing.

As I understand it, citizens of the United States may vote (or not vote) for a candidate for any reason or no reason at all. That’s why we have secret ballots. Do you suggest changing that?

I believe that every position or stand taken by conservatives, or Americans of faith is attacked as bigotry by the left.

“religious bigotry”
I won’t vote for a RINO or a Mormon.
I don’t care what anyone thinks about it, but I had to say it to piss you off.

For the vast majority it’s not religious bigotry, it’s just knowing a d*mn*d lying liberal when we see one.

A lot of ‘rats have infiltrated Iowa to try to support Romney; if they are ultimately successful then they will have locked up the election, either a ‘rat or a ‘rat lite.

So you are saying that if a Baptist had a known history of supporting gun control, abortion and socialized healthcare, that conservatives would be ok with him as a candidate???
