Among Republicans, 48% said they would vote for a Mormon, 29% said they would not, 23% did not offer an opinion.

Democrats were less likely to vote for a Mormon presidential candidate with 46% saying they would not, 28% said they would, 27% had no opinion.

Independents said they would vote for a Mormon by a narrow margin with 39% saying they would vote for a Mormon versus 34% who said they would not. Twenty-seven percent of Independents did not have an opinion on the question.

So, just who are the bigots?

Maybe should do a followup, and ask those same Democrats if they also would not vote for an Evangelical or a strict (not a Kennedy/Pelosi-type) Catholic...or a Muslim.

The real bigots are the peddlers of articles like this. Yet again we are allowing the media, pollsters and pundits to define the issues. When anyone raises Obama's race, Romney's Mormonism, or Kennedy's Catholicism, they reveal themselves as the true bigots. The media, as does each one of us, have an obligation of self-censorship.
