There are a lot of megachurches out there based on bad theology.
Joel's is a very nice looking one. However, don't fall for the bad theology.
Faith is not a force you can harness like Harry Potter by saying the right words.
Check out the link for a review on Osteen's flavor of "word faith" movement.

Joel Osteen is a false teacher. He is not preaching the Gospel of Grace (1 Cor 15: 1-4). He is teaching we all can be good little boys and girls and gain Heaven. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG AND WRONG!!! I don't watch him. I don't buy his tons of expensive books that is making him rich. People think they can just be good and go to Heaven. NO! You have to Believe in Jesus Christ! You cannot earn your way into Heaven. You cannot buy your way in. You cannot do good works and say I gave here, I did this and this and this. I never did wrong. Dudden matter folks. Won't get you in. The Holy Bible is CLEAR on this fact! Many misunderstand "works." The good works you do are WHAT YOU DO IN HIS NAME AFTER you have been saved! What you do for Him after you accept Him. DON'T LISTEN TO FALSE TEACHERS LIKE OSTEEN!

Its sad to say that there are less and less good religious programs on TV anymore. The current generation is filled with preachers who claim you can pray for money or a house or to get out of your troubles. Prayer is the answer to getting through troubles, not getting out of them or living the good life without effort. I usually start watching one and begin liking him or her, then hear than nonsense and turn it off. Osteen is one of them.

Amen, brother. Osteen is a snake-oil salesman who makes it much more difficult for true Christians to evangelize with the Gospel. Every true believer I know despises him.
He’ll get his, maybe not as soon as Bouncin’ Bob Tilton and his ilk, but just as surely.

Dr. Charles Stanley is good for me.

Interestingly, I got rid of TV in the mid-90’s and felt that way then. I had already quit respecting most of it then.

Alistar Begg, John MacArthur, Chuck Swindoll and David Jeremiah are the only preachers I listen to now.

Charles Stanley's teaching has helped me immeasurably.
He is truly a gift from God.

His acceptance of mormonism as not being a cult was the icing on my cake with this prosperity snake-oil salesman. He thinks that that goofy-frozen face smile and beautiful wife will get him new customers, but it's kinda' like Jim Bakker years ago . . . entertainment.
By the way, Jim Bakker has now grown a beard, wears a ball cap to hide his baldspot, sells some kind of dietary stuff, and still preaches. You'd think he'd be employable as something other than a religous huckster, but . . . Didn't he learn a trade in prison?

I have no use for TV preachers. People send their money in but when they need help they show up at their local church.

That sounds like stinking thinking. You just don't like prosperity theology because you're jealous that those with more faith are always getting blessed more than yourself. But, don't get mad, get better. I can help. If you are now willing to exercise the faith you should already have if you're a good follower of Christ, if you are willing to be blessed, just send me all of your money and I'll personally see to it that you are blessed beyond your wildest dreams. And if your sex life is not all you dreamed, just send me naked photos of your wife, and I'll analyze them according to scripture and then give you personalized tips on improving your most intimate moments. Heck if you let me sleep with her I'll let you in on secret ways to enlarge your manhood encoded into the scriptures that nobody else knows, and give you secret a secret of pre-forgiveness that will allow you to sleep with anybody you want with no penalty! But wait, there's more! /S

Charles Stanley’s son Andy also has a unique gift.

Joel reminds me for some reason of the main character in Don Imus’s book, God’s Other Son. And I don’t think it is because they are both Texans.

Aw, cut Joel some slack - those trophy wives are expensive to maintain. (Were he not married, I’d swear he is gay.)

I have never understood how so many people keep watching and listening to Osteen. You’d think after a few times, they’d figure out that “there’s nothing to see here” and move on.

The list of bad theology mega churches is long
Willow creek is a creeping poison. (of the ecumenical variety).
Most people don't even know they are attending one, it's almost a secret. Meanwhile they poison your church's teachings.
what are the churches around you that are secretly WCCA?

You mean the Charles Stanley who said he would step down from the ministry if he ever got divorced (he had always refused to marry divorcees) but then changed his mind when he and his wife split up?
I suppose it depends on the meaning of ‘divorce’.
