The Budist is a Christian. You won't find much difference in Budism with that of Christianity. Buda preached accepting sufferings calmly, so did Christ. That's what Beinsa Douno said in regards to Budism.
Any budists coming here on this forum?
I'm interested in that etymology because IMHO journalists use their claim of "objectivity" in precisely the same way that the sophists of ancient Greece used their claims to wisdom.
- sophist
- 1542, earlier sophister (c.1380), from L. sophista, sophistes, from Gk. sophistes, from sophizesthai "to become wise or learned," from sophos "wise, clever," of unknown origin. Gk. sophistes came to mean "one who gives intellectual instruction for pay," and, contrasted with "philosopher," it became a term of contempt. Ancient sophists were famous for their clever, specious arguments.
- philosopher
- O.E. philosophe, from L. philosophus, from Gk. philosophos "philosopher," lit. "lover of wisdom," from philos "loving" + sophos "wise, a sage."
"Pythagoras was the first who called himself philosophos, instead of sophos, 'wise man,' since this latter term was suggestive of immodesty." [Klein]
On your topic, my understanding of Buddhism is that it is more a philosophy than a religion - in the sense that its adherents don't worship God, and in the sense that they don't believe in heaven or hell. They certainly don't preach Christ as "the way, the truth, and the life."
Wrong. I cannot save myself-only Jesus can do this through His payment for your sins before God (otherwise God sees our sin-and not Christ’s righteousness). For by Grace (unmerrited favor) you have been saved, and this not of yourselves that no man (person) may boast.
And there is only one way (standard) for righteouness: “Be you (Holy) as I (God) am Holy..” obviously God’s holiness (and justice) precludes us from ever earning His grace, or salvation.
“But God demonstrated His love for us in this, that while we were still yet sinners (and spurned Him), (He sent Jesus) to died for us”.
2. Our Problem...Separation From God
God created us in His own image so we can know Him personally and have a joy-filled life. He did not make us as robots to automatically love and obey Him, but gave us a will and a freedom of choice. Since the beginning of time, we have chosen to disobey God and go our own willful way. We still make this choice today. This results in separation from God and ends in misery.
The Bible says:
All of us have sinned and fallen short of God’s holiness (Romans 3:23).
The result of unforgiven sin is death. But God’s gift is eternal life given by Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23).
The Bible says that disobeying God results in being separated from Him.
Our attempts can never unite us with God. Through the ages, people have tried many ways to bridge this gap and reach God — without success.
The Bible says:
Adam sinned, and that sin brought death into the world. Now everyone has sinned, and so everyone must die (Romans 5:12).
You may think you are on the right road and still end up dead (Proverbs 14:12).
There is only one way to reach God.
3. God’s Remedy...The Cross
Jesus Christ is the only answer to this problem. He is the only One who can bring us back to God. He died on the Cross and rose from the grave, paying the penalty for our sin and bridging the gap between God and people.
The Bible says:
There is only one God, and Christ Jesus is the only one who can bring us to God (1 Timothy 2:5).
Christ died once for our sins. An innocent person died for those who are guilty. Christ did this to bring you to God
(1 Peter 3:18).
But God showed how much He loved us by having Christ die for us, even though we were sinful (Romans 5:8).
God has provided the only way — we must make the choice.
4. Our Response...Give Ourselves to Christ
We must trust Jesus Christ to forgive our sins and determine to obey Him for the rest of our lives. That way we can know God and find peace again.
The Bible says:
So you will be saved, if you honestly say, Jesus is Lord, and if you believe with all your heart that God raised Him from death. God will accept you and save you, if you truly believe this (Romans 10:9-10).
Is there any good reason why you cannot turn your life over to Jesus Christ right now?
How to give your life to Christ:
1. Admit you are a sinner and need forgiveness.
2. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the Cross and rose from the grave.
3. Through prayer, confess that Jesus Christ is the only way to God and commit to live for Him for the rest of your life.
Would you like to give your life over to Jesus Christ right now?
Yes, I would like to give my life to Jesus Christ
Ready to take the next step?
Jesus is the only One who can bring us back to God. The Bible says, If you declare with your mouth, Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” To give your life to Christ, pray the following prayer and accept Jesus as your Savior:
What to Pray
Dear Lord Jesus,
I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and rose from the grave to give me life. I know You are the only way to God. So now I want to quit disobeying You and start living for You. Please forgive me, change my life and show me how to know You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

I have done this today by the way (recieved Christ)-it just so happens that God was working on my heart, and that I was on the salvation page at CBN this morning..
If Jesus came today he would ask why you misrepresented his teachings in such a gross manner. First and foremost Jesus taught that He came to die for the sins of the world and that to back it up, he would rise again from the grave.
Jesus further taught that the acceptance of who He is was the only way to heaven- not some amorphic eastern divine love concept.
Accordingly, Jesus taught he was the EXCLUSIVE way - that rules out buddhism, islam, or the plethura of other 'isms. Buddhism keeps you trapped in a cycle of karma. Jesus came as the sovereign God who loved me the Son of Man, fully human and fully God. Jesus of reality is not the Jesus of Beinsa Douno, Jesus of history refutes Douno's concept of an amorphous 'manifestation' of love, but is the God who loves us.
Benisa Doumo's doctrines are as far removed from what Jesus taught as the east is from the west.
Jesus Christ - accept no substitutes.
Your problem is in understanding the Holy Trinity. The trinity is a fundamental concept of Christian thought and your lack of grasp is indicative of the ignorance in which you started the thread. The questions you are bringing up were grappled with by the Church in great depth during the first couple centuries after Christ.
To Christians there is one God and only one God. The Father is God, the Son is God and the Holy Spirit is God, all the same being. The differentiation happens in the concept of personhood- a person is defined by relationships with other persons. The Father and Son are a relationship but in God found in the same being. It is a revealed truth that there are three persons in the being of God, and they are not three Gods as difficult as that may be to grasp.
Christ told us that He is the Way, the Truth and the Light and that no one comes to God except through him. He taught that there is a single, narrow path to God and that we get one shot at choosing that path, or will be condemned forever to painful separation from God. He taught the opposite of karmic cycles, that we are valuable to God and possessed of the immortal breath of God, not simply an accumulation of parts that spread out as easily as they came together.
Great theology song: (please listen) and open your heart; God may change it ;).

Well, everybody has his own interpretation of Christ’s teachings.
But, do you really love Jesus? If you say yes, do you obey His commandment “Love one another.” If you don’t obey it, there is no difference between you and the non Christians.
Blessings,
DS
Thank you!
To the extent that an individual’s interpretation of Christ’s teachings differ from the accepted teachings of the Church, then they are in error. It is fashionable to think that an individual can stand alone from the body of believers and interpret the Christian faith for them self. This stands in opposition of the clear teachings of Christ which established a community of believers with a hierarchy of leaders selected from the disciples to whom authority was delegated.
Christ commanded us to love God above all, then to love each other as we love ourselves. First priority is to love God, and that means to align ourselves to His teachings and humbly fulfill His will for us in our lives. I would note that this is a point of irreconcilable disagreement between Christianity and Buddhism that betrays any outward similarities. Buddhism does not preach love for God or man, it preaches emptying one of self and desires that cause harm to them and others. Christianity teaches that we should desire to love God with our whole being.
I am sorry, but if I can’t understand the words it’s really meaningless to me, becuase I do not know what they are talking about?
There is no way to obey that command. Romans 3:23 (part of the same Bible) “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glourious/righteous standard of God”/
Let me ask a question: Have you ALWAYS in your whole life “loved one another”, Have you kept (even this 1) of God’s command for your whole life, every moment? Because if you haven’t you are a sinner who is seperated from God; God has given His Son so that even though you are a sinner you shall have eternal life if you recognize Him (and only He) can save you if you give up trying to earn salvation!

I was stopped by some Buddhists with literature outside the Catholic church St. Thomas the Apostle on 55th Street in Hyde Park on my way to Mass.
They wanted me to take their literature. I told them I was Catholic. They told me I could be Catholic and Buddhist. I asked if I could be a Buddhist and believe in a separate personal God who created everything from nothing? They told me that I could not. I said goodbye.
“...There is no way to obey that command. “Love one another.” ... “
Well, that’s your opinion.
My opinion is whatever Christ says comes from God.
And I know it is only for strong people to obey it.
“... Have you ALWAYS in your whole life loved one another,..”
No I have not.
But my inner understanding is that all people are brothers and sisters.
1) To be a Christian is to follow Christ.
2) Christ said to one group of people, "You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your fathers desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies," John 8:44.
3) Christ said to another group of people, "And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. This, then, is how you should pray: 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,'" Matthew 6:7-9.
4) Christ acknowledged that there were two fathers, thus two families, therefore a follower of Christ, a Christian, does not say that "all people are brothers and sisters." A Christian acknowledges with Christ that some people are children of God, and some people are children of the devil.
5) John 3:3-8
Jesus replied, Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.
How can someone be born when they are old? Nicodemus asked. Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mothers womb to be born!
Jesus answered, Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, You must be born again. The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.
Sorry, you forgot your sarcasm tag.
No rituals no temples. When Jesus was Crucified the temple curtain was torn from top to bottom to open the temple - no more secrets.
