Wow! You just proved it! You hate peaceand desire war! You congratulate yourself on division and would be concerned with fellowship!

There really is no difference between some soi-disant Christians and Islam. They call their God of hatred by different names, they have a different Holy Book to justify their rejection of beauty, equity, unity, and love.

Just wow!

I won’t say this is a deal BREAKER, but it does imperil the deal. This is serious. I can’t believe you think this and read my paper on Truth!

You see, since Jesus is God, right?

I'd love to see you answer this rhetorical question of yours.

On second reading, I see even more on this post I'd like to comment on. You make it seem like it is an errant Catholic belief that Jesus is God. Then there's this line:

And Mary gave birth to Jesus and is rightly called the mother of Christ, then by Catholic reasoning, she is to be called the mother of God because Jesus the Christ is God.

I notice how you say it is right to call Mary the mother of Christ, but then say it is Catholic reasoning that she is to be called the mother of God because "Jesus the Christ" is God. Hmmm...

I am my Beloved's, and He is mine.

I'm sorry if that doesn't jump through the hoops of those who claim to say works don't matter but then impose exigent shibboleths on ejaculations of faith.

That’s how they believe that they receive eternal life, by consuming the eucharist, aka, eating God.

Catholics speak of reasoning when they couldn't reason themselves out of a paper bag. They obey deceptive practices and teachings that promises salvation and yet then still don't know if they have it. The good news for them is that are questioning it. Imaging obeying teachings that oppose God's Word and even 'think' they have salvation? How much 'reasoning' went into that? Dumb, dumb. Dumb to the 2nd power.

The Vatican/RCC - greatest con job pulled on the unsuspecting in the name of religion. "I shall build My church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it". Thank you, God - for releasing The Truth which is Your WORD.

Thank You JESUS - your church is thriving as we seek you more. Help those escape from the counterfeit church that is steeped in evil.

Hey, I’d much rather believe the Eucharist from Christ’s own words than your UFO sect with it dominion of aliens.

Your sect stands condemned by its own words.

Quix, what sect are you in?

Also, is the UFO stuff part of their beliefs, or is it only something you believe in personally?

Thanks for your ping.

IMHO: The differences between Calvinist and non_Calvinists on God and man are so stark that I wouldn’t call it a “united faith.” Closer to different religions.

This and the issues such a baptism also illustrate that disunity and the core problem of sola scriptura to having a truly unified Body of Christ.

Let’s start a sidebar on how and when ignorance is culpable and when not. There’s a lot of willful ignorance and a lot of negligent ignorance among our interlocutors.
That is the most generous construction possible on their falsehoods.

No, Quix has already said just what I conjectured: any truth that might make for peace is to be avoided — because what really matters is enmity.

Or there’s been a kind of visceration of language. One group describes the tenets of another as damnable heresies. Then they claim “unity”.

EITHER heresy means something trivial, OR “unity” means something trivial, OR this claim means something trivial.

I’m afraid that’s not allowed, because that would be “mind reading.”

Justification is by faith alone (Romans 3:28).

Catholics prefer 'reasoning' to faith.

God justifies ungodly sinners who believe (Romans 4:5) Good works are a result of salvation, not the cause (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Catholics are taught their filthy rags (works) are needed for salvation. No wonder why they question if they have it.

The justified are in themselves beautiful and holy in God's sight. The justified are In Christ holy and blameless before God (Ephesians 1:1-14).

Catholics can't handle we who are 'in Christ' are blessed, blessed, blessed' - they call it pride. LOL! More of 'their reasoning'. I am holy, I am blameless in God's sight because of JESUS!

I am a friend of God! With a friend like that - I could have one billion pawns of satan against me and I'd say 'give me your best shot' for 'HE Who is in me, is greater than he who is in the world". Thank You, JESUS!

Christians already have the Victory! ....
"A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you".

Praise God! Thank You for Your Son, My Savior.

“One group describes the tenets of another as damnable heresies. Then they claim “unity”.”

They are like the Muslim Sunni and Shia. The Arabic saying is very apt: The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Very primitive.

*Guess that’s why standard latin phrases are forbidden and common English usage is not understood.

And Mary gave birth to Jesus and is rightly called the mother of Christ, then by Catholic reasoning, she is to be called the mother of God because Jesus the Christ is God.

Yes, there is a reason. In the history of the Church, the Church had to combat various heresies about who Jesus is, who God is, what the Incarnation was, etc. Through the early Councils we arrived at what we now know as the Orthodox Christian Faith concerning Jesus, the Incarnation and the Holy Trinity.

During this time, as part of combatting heresy on the nature of Our Saviour, the dogma of the Mother of God was declared as opposed to those teaching contrary to the Orthodox Faith who wished to call Mary, Mother of Christ. Chief among these heretics was Nestorius.

In the eighth century, St. John Damascene compiled a summary of Church dogma. Below is the portion relating to your post.

But we never say that the holy Virgin is the Mother of Christ(4) because it was in order to do away with the title Mother of God, and to bring dishonour on the Mother of God, who alone is in truth worthy of honour above all creation, that the impure and abominable Judaizing Nestorius(5), that vessel of dishonour, invented this name for an insult(6). For David the king, and Aaron, the high priest, are also called Christ(7), for it is customary to make kings and priests by anointing: and besides every God-inspired man may be called Christ. but yet be is not by nature God: yea, the accursed Nestorius insulted Him Who was born of the Virgin by calling Him God-bearer(8). May it be far from us to speak of or think of Him as God-bearer only(9), Who is in truth God incarnate. For the Word Himself became flesh, having been in truth conceived of the Virgin, but coming forth as God with the assumed nature which, as soon as He was brought forth into being, was deified by Him, so that these three things took place simultaneously, the assumption of our nature, the coming into being, and the deification of the assumed nature by the Word. And thus it is that the holy Virgin is thought of and spoken of as the Mother of God, not only because of the nature of the Word, but also because of the deification of man's nature, the miracles of conception and of existence being wrought together, to wit, the conception the Word, and the existence of the flesh in the Word Himself.…
An Exact Exposition of the Orthodox Faith by St John Damascene

you have to consume your God to have him live in you or you don’t get saved.

Seems like 'their god' doesn't want to stay within them - since they keep doing it daily/weekly.

We accept Him through faith and HE lives within us and will never leave nor forsake us - His very own children! Truly, the gates of hell did not prevail against His Church.

Blockquotes are your friend - as is reading the portions of the conversation you are joining in - particularly before making assumptions leading to accusations.

I really have no interest in argument for argument sake.

But not only do we not know what the interlocutor intends but we have ample evidence that real, useful conversation is not the object of the act.

True dat.

The interesting question is what is the object?

Unfortunately pondering that is against the rules too.

:)

Thanks for your reply.
