ASSIUT, Egypt - A Coptic Christian priest has been killed in southern Egypt, triggering street demonstrations by several thousand Christians.

The priest was found dead in his home. A fellow clergyman, Danoub Thabet, says his body had several stab wounds. He says neighbours reported seeing several masked men leaving the apartment and shouting "Allahu akbar," or "God is great," suggesting the killing was motivated by the divide between Egypt's Muslims and its minority Coptic community.

About 3,000 protesters scuffled with Muslim shop owners Tuesday night and smashed the windows of a police car in the city, Assiut.

Apparently enough turning of the cheek... They're fighting back.

I believe there’s going to be a lot more of these murders occurring since the unrests in the Arab countries appears leading to more extreme islamist control.

Jesus advised His followers, “And he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one.” (Luke 22:29) The modern day equivalent is a gun. Jesus does not require Christians to be defenseless in dangerous times.

"...his body had several stab wounds."

In a moslem country, this is considered natural causes.

At the end of time, the Christians in the West will be held responsible for not coming to the aid of their brothers and sisters in the Muslim world.

Then, the shit will truly hit the fan.

The Copts had better defend themselves. No one else will.

They have had enough! Soon the world will know exactly what the muslims have in store for all the Christians in the world. I hope they kick muslim butt and show them how it is done. Stay with them for the sake of our children fighting this war. Why has Afghanistan being going on longer than all our wars before? Because the president refuses to release the hounds of war and end this know. I pray a General will rise up and push this weakling aside. Pray for America and our heritage.

It was just an accident. Police are unable to establish a motive. The assailants are unknown.

Couldn’t be savages acting out what they are told to do in their indoctrination centers. No. Couldn’t be. Nah.

Was there not a series of Virgin Mary sightings on the domes of Coptic Churches in Cairo in the late `60’s? Perhaps she needs to return - and this time, be a tad more vocal.

Coptics should prepare for the slaughter, or get out.

You are correct. You would be thinking of Zeitoun.

However, there were supposedly some more recent apparitions also, just over a year ago

These two exceprts from this thread prove that Coptic means Catholic.

THE RITES OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH -- There are many!

3.ALEXANDRIAN Coptic Coptic Patriarch of Alexandria of the Copts Egypt

ALEXANDRIAN. The liturgy used by the church in Alexandria in Egypt is attributed to St. Mark the evangelist. This church became known as the Coptic church because Copt is the Arabic and Greek word for Egyptian. Before the Moslem invasion in 641 the Copts fell into heresy due to their rejection of the Council of Chalcedon (451). Through missionary work, some of these were brought back into union in recent years. Today there exists in Egypt the Coptic rite which is Orthodox and the Coptic rite that is loyal to the Bishop of Rome.

Thus the sola scriptura thread about the Coptic Church should not be a valid caucus for the subject -- there are too many Catholics in Egypt.......alllllllthe things you never knew or never wanted to know! LOL!
