Yeah, like why didn’t you post this in Religion?
All believers are “sanctified - i.e. made saints - through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all” (Hebrews 10:10). All Christians are saints because of what Christ did for us.
If he’s a follower of Christ then he is, by definition, a saint.
Saint = Christian
Christian = Saint

“Sainthood” as a human created label is in the vein of pleasing man. As all saints/Christians know, that is not the goal, though one can sometimes stumble on it on his path to pleasing God.
Ping to watch the fireworks.
*ahem*
From wikipedia:
Anthony of Lisbon (or Padua) is known to have become the "quickest" saint in the history of the Catholic Church because he was canonized by Pope Gregory IX less than one year after his death on the 30th of May of 1232.
‘since so many sins occurred under his watch.’
This may surprise you, but plenty of sins occurred under the watch of Jesus Christ.
Why is there such a rush?
Is there some sort of ecclesial sin "threshold", above which a Pope may not be considered for sainthood? If so, what is it and who decides? Not the Pope, obviously, because he's the individual whose sanctity is under consideration. Maybe the blogosphere decides.......or the New York Times.......or...........
In what units is sin measured and where does one go to find the latest stats?
The writer is an idiot.
Pretty stupid. Even with the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost presiding over the Church, it is full of sinners.
Jesus chose twelve Apostles, and one of them was Judas.
John Paul II did what he could with the dreadful mess which he inherited from his immediate predecessors.
He’s also responsible for all priest parking tickets worldwide while he was Pope.
Just wondering if more underage young men have been molested by priests or by all the wonderful leaders of the gay rights movement. I’m sure we’ll see a comparison study /s.
Canonization endorses a person’s personal sanctity and his example of Christian virtue, not necessarily his administrative competence or efficiency. “Bad stuff happened on his watch” is an indictment of the latter.
Pope John Paul II helped Reagan and Thatcher take down the USSR. Libscum will never forgive hime for that, hence idiotic articles such as this one.
