HINDUS HAVE applauded Pope Benedict for including verse from ancient Hindu scripture Upanishads in the Good Friday Meditations and Prayers led by him at Roman Colosseum.
Acclaimed Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that it was a remarkable gesture from Pope and invited him to study more ancient Hindu scriptures, which were very rich in philosophical thought. He or other Hindu scholars would gladly provide the help and resources in this regard, if asked, Zed added.
Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, also commended His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI for inclusion of a verse from India’s Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore’s Gitanjali and reference to peace icon Mahatma Gandhi in these prayers.
This year’s 'Way of the Cross at the Colesseum' Meditations and Prayers on Good Friday, led by Pope, included well-known verse from Brahadaranyakopanishad (“Lead me from the unreal to the real, from darkness to light, from death to immortality”), line from Tagore’s Gitanjali (“Give me the strength to make my love fruitful in service”) and reference to Mahatma Gandhi.
Rajan Zed stressed that all religions should work together for a just and peaceful world. Dialogue would bring us mutual enrichment, he added.
Pope Benedict heads the Roman Catholic Church, which is the largest of the Christian denominations. Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about one billion adherents and moksha (liberation) is its ultimate goal.
Apparently I am dense on this one because I seriously can’t see why you PERSONALLY VERIFYING the WORD OF GOD would be taken as an insult. Unless you hate the Word of God? Is that the reason? What? Who could be insulted by that who is claiming the Name of Christ?
Or is it something deeper? Is this a new tactic of the anti-proddy group to find imaginary insults against proddy’s, then blow them out of proportion in order to seek to get get them kicked off a particular thread?

There was no condemnation in his statement, nor was there a perverting of Scripture.
What IS happening is some posters blowing comments and posts OUT OF PROPORTION to the rules in order to target certain individuals so as to kick them off a thread. IMO. (Opinions are allowed so not ‘making it personal’).
RM: Perhaps this type of behavior should be addressed in the rules as well? I’ve been seeing this a lot lately on the religion forum. Only a suggestion, I know you’ve got a lot on your plate.

I don’t scan through many thousands very often but I will scan through a thousand or 2 fairly often.

Another time that CG is ascribing motive “ in order to target certain individuals so as to kick them off a thread. “ —> this is “pretending to read minds” and against Forum rules. This is one of the multiple times by the poster who has had posts pulled for inflammatory posts on this and other threads from banned sites, for personal insults and for reading minds.
The thread started as a flame-bait and is a flame-fest and will seemingly remain as one
