Evangelical book catalogs promote books such as Planet Earth: The Final Chapter, The Great Escape, and the Left Behind series. Bumper stickers warn us that the vehicles occupants may disappear at any moment. It is clear that there is a preoccupation with the idea of a secret rapture. Perhaps this has become more pronounced recently due to the expectation of a new millennium and the fears regarding potential Y2K problems. Perhaps psychologically people are especially receptive to the idea of an imminent, secret rapture at the present time. Additionally, many Christians are not aware that any other position relative to the second coming of Jesus Christ exists. Even in Reformed circles there are numerous people reading these books. Many of these people are unaware that this viewpoint conflicts with Scripture and Reformed Theology.

“Soooooooo underwhelming!”
Exactly.
Really? Such perception. How much time do you spend in Roman Catholic churches? Im amazed at this level of insight into RC behavior from such an anti-Catholic.
Thanks for your kind and understanding reply.
"Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." -- 2 Timothy 4:8
OT saints were saved by the same grace as NT saints. It's all about Christ. Period. Now. Then. Tomorrow. Forever.
"There is neither Jew nor Greek...for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." - Gal. 3:28
This cannot be emphasized enough - The whole name of the game is to return Adam to the garden - A direct one-on-one relationship with God - Which is not possible today without the covering Blood of Christ (because our sin makes us unable to approach Him otherwise).
Good post.
I was baptized a Catholic and grew up a Catholic.
All my extended family is Catholic.
I have relatives who were/are clergy in the Catholic church.
Most of my classmates in school were Catholic, and most of my co-workers for over 10 years were Catholic.
The only conclusion I can come to about FRoman Catholics is that as a whole, is that they are way out of touch with mainstream Catholicism.
There are other ex-Catholics on this board who will concur with what I’ve said about Catholic beliefs and behavior. They have in the past, so I know they can do it.
And such is the accusations on the Mormon threads. I’m not anti-Catholic. My heart goes out to those still trapped by the deception peddled in that church in the name of Christ. I want to see them set free.
I’m anti-Catholicism. I oppose the telling of false doctrine as truth that the Catholic church engages in.
How did God judge Lot?
Or David?
It is certainly wise to be cautious about fear mongers/-ering.
However, a watchman’s job is still to sound the alarm/alert.
I suspect you might draw the lines, in managing such a job, a bit differently.
I think John Moore’s stuff is good because so much of the information is publicly available.
Perhaps I’m missing some point in your caution. If so, please spell it out more plainly.
Quite so.
And those are the applicable Scriptures in a list of contexts; regarding a list of God’s purposes etc. etc. etc.
AND . . .
God WILL STILL HONOR HIS PROMISES TO THE BLOOD CHILDREN OF ABRAHAM, ISSAC AND JACOB.
Thanks for your kind affirmation.
Of course, I agree entirely with your wording.
Well put.
LUB
Amen! You can’t put it any more succinctly than that.
I also appreciate their outspoken stand about the sanctity of marriage and against homosexual marriage.
On noes! Does that make me anti-gay? Or a hatemonger, too?
AMEN!
Jesus said that He had come here to save the lost sheep of the House of Israel, the ones who had left the Davidic kingdom under Jeroboam. He said "I must needs go to Samaria", the seat of the House of Israel. By preaching there and by sending the disciples there, he fulfilled the prophecy in Ezekiel 37 about uniting the stick of Joseph to the stick of Judah. One Israel in Christ. That is the only Israel saved.
Now if somebody wants a piece of desert over the spiritual riches of the Kingdom, that person is confused
Now if somebody wants a piece of desert over the spiritual riches of the Kingdom, that person is confused
AMEN!
Dirt is not holy. Dirt is not the reward waiting all who have been given grace through faith in His word. Dirt is not the goal.
In Christ and Christ within is the only goal.
“In any event, there is no justification for using racial language in the body of Christ, now or in the future.”
As I’ve said before, Paul himself addressed the Gentiles within the Church, so he himself made the distinction.
When I’m speaking of the Jews, I’m speaking of those not presently part of the Body of Christ. I’m pretty sure even for Gary DeMar fans that it’s perfectly appropriate to call them “Jews”.
More likely we will have some down time on the Internet and slow Internet connections in the next couple years from damaged satellites.
But to worry the earth is going to have some great catastrophe is so remote it isnt being realistic.
I know you follow SunkenCiv great disaster pings there are a hundred if not hundreds of ways the earth can be totally destroyed and most of them are always pending. Will one of them happen in our life? You would have better odds hitting the lottery 3 times in a row with only three tickets.
