It is certainly wise to be cautious about fear mongers/-ering.

However, a watchman’s job is still to sound the alarm/alert.

I suspect you might draw the lines, in managing such a job, a bit differently.

I think John Moore’s stuff is good because so much of the information is publicly available.

Perhaps I’m missing some point in your caution. If so, please spell it out more plainly.

My way of looking at a threat level needs to be weighted with statistical averages.
The chance of a solar flare destroying or greatly damaging the earth in our life time is remote at best.

More likely we will have some down time on the Internet and slow Internet connections in the next couple years from damaged satellites.

But to worry the earth is going to have some great catastrophe is so remote it isn’t being realistic.

I know you follow SunkenCiv great disaster pings there are a hundred if not hundreds of ways the earth can be totally destroyed and most of them are always pending. Will one of them happen in our life? You would have better odds hitting the lottery 3 times in a row with only three tickets.
