On January 3, 1521, Pope Leo X issues the papal bull Decet Romanum Pontificem, which excommunicates Martin Luther from the Catholic Church.
Martin Luther, the chief catalyst of Protestantism, was a professor of biblical interpretation at the University of Wittenberg in Germany when he drew up his 95 theses condemning the Catholic Church for its corrupt practice of selling indulgences, or the forgiveness of sins. He followed up the revolutionary work with equally controversial and groundbreaking theological works, and his fiery words set off religious reformers all across Europe.
In January 1521, Pope Leo X excommunicated Luther. Three months later, Luther was called to defend his beliefs before Holy Roman Emperor Charles V at the Diet of Worms, where he was famously defiant. For his refusal to recant his writings, the emperor declared him an outlaw and a heretic. Luther was protected by powerful German princes, however, and by his death in 1546, the course of Western civilization had been significantly altered.
Evidently y’all think fantasies are great fun!
If you ever want to engage Catholics in serious debate, you might want to read something more authoritative, like an encyclical or the Catechism of the Catholic Church. A Nihil Obstat and an Imprimautur do have a little weight, and having them is certainly better than nothing, but Catholics are free to ignore these works in a way that they are not free to ignore works from the Pope. Nihil Obstats and Imprimauturs do get pulled—Papal works do not get pulled. Likewise, more official works generally contain all of the related concepts, while a private work might contain some things without mentioning qualifiers that may be important, especially to those not familiar with Catholic Doctrine.
Leo XIII has a pile on encyclicals on the rosary—nice short encyclicals, not like the ones turned out today. Perhaps you could read these and string together all of the passages clearly teaching mariolatry—it would be even more effective than your present tome. If you do, be sure to ping me.
what kind of thinking would imply such a thing? YOURS!
you are equating non-inspired human tradition with Holy Spirit inspired Apostolic Tradition.
You and others get very angry when lies told about the Church are exposed. Sorry!!
Of course, that is attributed to him. Others are quoted as saying Hitler did not profess any religion. Others say once he left home in his teens, he never attended a Catholic Liturgy or received any sacraments the rest of this life.
In addition, Hitler professed that the Protestant religion was the true German Religion because it allowed for a Re-interpretation.

next thing we will hear is that he was a Jesuit!
So how do you dismiss Boniface and his decree for the Orthodox and non latins?
Seems pretty clear he meant every living human being, does it not?
Was he speaking as a private theologian, not infallible?
what is great fun is exposing lies about the Church. You must hate this site, since it allows me to get the truth out!
Still going around determining who is knowledgeable, who you overestimated, who has truth? A perfect example of The RCC - control, intimidation/manipulation. Those snares don’t work with Christians.
yes
i’m not determining these things, you expose yourself with every post. Seriously,do you think this hatred in your heart of the Church is from God or pleasing to Him?
I routinely have enough irons in the fire, such a project is not likely to get sufficiently high on the priority list to get done.
It’s all I can do to occasionally read a few more paragraphs of the thick Catechism.
I’m still working my way through Enoch the 2nd time and version.
If you or someone else does as you suggest, please ping me.
I’m aware of the lesser status of the vetting done at the level Ferraro’s book was done.
What RC’s seem unable or unwilling to admit is the wealth of VERY VIGOROUSLY SUPPORTED QUOTES from CENTURIES of RC-dom in that text.
The hierarchy AND the rank and file fall all over themselves trying to outdo one another in their pontifications and exclamations of asserting ever grander declarations about Mary’s purported glories, stature and powers.
Watching that just on FR 24/7/365 is plenty of gag material on the face of it.
There’s been very faint honorable, honest, candid response hereon regarding Ferraro’s displayed hideousness from centuries of Mary worship.
Most of it is some variation on kill the messenger or pretend it’s not really true because it’s not in the Catechism.
What nonsense.
We see it proven true just on FR plenty to cause projectile vomitting.
The 1929 treaty that Pius XI signed allowed the popes to continue to exercise the temporal sovereignty
The Pope had no sovereignty whatsoever since 1870.
The Law of Guarantees of 1871, by which the Italian government guaranteed to Pope Pius IX and his successors the use of, but not sovereignty over, the Vatican and Lateran Palaces and a yearly income of 3,250,000 lire as indemnity for the loss of sovereignty and territory.
So it seems you are totally mistaken about the sovereignty issue. Charlemagne does not have anything to do with the close relations of the Pope with the Mussolini during WWII. To say he "never having surrendered sovereignty" is partly true, he sold it for 30 pieces of silver - well 3,250,000 lire annually.
I’m not aware of any Proddys hereon knowingly lying the least degree about the RCC.
IT’s the RCC contingents hereon who are so addicted to
—VULCANIZED BIBLES
—VULCANIZED HISTORIES
—VULCANIZED LOGIC TEXTS
—VULCANIZED DAFFYNITIONARIES.
I imagine you are right about the King/Prime Minister relationship in Italy at the time, but I am lazy and have spent a long time in Canada, so I should also note that it is possible that I could be wrong.
That is what the law of guarantees said—the problem with your argument is that the Popes rejected the law in question, and so did not surrender sovereignty—they did not take the yearly incomce and remaind successive “prisoners of the Vatican.” Mexico can pass a law asserting sovereignty over California, but until the U.S. responds to a treaty proposal, you have a case of disputed sovereignty with a proposed solution, not an agreed to cessation.
Thanks...
Unless I am convicted by scripture and plain reason
- for I do not accept the authority of the popes and
councils, as they have too often contradicted each
other - my conscience is captive to the Word of God.
I cannot and I will not recant anything,
for to go against conscience is neither right nor safe.
Here I stand. I can do no other. God help me. Amen.
(M. Luther 18 April 1521)
Why is the 'Hail Mary' given as admonishment for forgivness of sins in the Confessional Booth?
"Say 20 Hail Marys and your sins will be forgiven"
"Hail Mary, full of grace.
Our Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen

Nothing against the Catholic church or the mother of Christ - I just don't 'get' it.
It is true Mary has a very honored place in Catholic and Orthodox theology. This is because God chose her to be the vessel that Jesus, our Lord and Savior, would get his humanity thru, in order for Him to atone for sin on the cross, thereby rescuing mankind from the power of sin and death. You and others seem to enjoy putting out the false charge of Mary worship or are very ignorant of what the Church teaches.
If Mary was really due worship, woudln’t i be putting my soul in danger by not only not worshipping her, but saying publicly she should NOT be worshipped, she is a created being, just like you and me, worshipping her would be idolatry and sinful to the extrme!! In Catholic theology, worship is due God alone. IN CATHOLIC THEOLOGY, WORSHIP IS DUE GOD ALONE. One more time in cas you missed it, in Catholic theology, worship is due God alone!!!
In Catholic theology, God is ONE, Father , Son and Holy Spirit. No Mary in the Trinity. Now that you have been set straight, to continue with the lie, can only mean the truth isn’t in you.
You do what the priest says if you want to be forgiven.
As a Catholic, yours is not to reason why......
Just do what you’re told.
