All know the word “Lucifer” as another name for Satan. The word “Lucifer” is found one time in the King James Bible.
I doubt if the N.I.V. is trying to make Jesus and Satan the same, they are just changing a word here or there which can be legally used, another change they made was slept to sleeping in 1 cor 15 v 20
K.J.V. 1 cor 15 v 20
But now is Christ risen from the dead, [and] become the firstfruits of them that slept.
many other versions have done the same thing.
Any one can see that it changes the whole concept.
Also in 1 cor ch 11 the n.i.v. and other versions has changed the head coverings from hair to veils or to hats or other head coverings.
K.J.V.1 cor ch 11 v 5
But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with [her] head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
1cr 11:14
Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
1Cr 11:15
But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for [her] hair is given her for a covering.
N.I.V. version v5
But any woman who prays or prophesies with her head unveiled brings shame upon her head, for it is one and the
same thing as if she had had her head shaved.
v 6
For if a woman does not have her head veiled, she may as well have her hair cut off. But if it is shameful for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should wear a veil.
v 7
A man, on the other hand, should not cover his head, because he is the image and glory of God, but woman is the glory of man.
13
Judge for yourselves: is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head unveiled?
14
Does not nature itself teach you that if a man wears his hair long it is a disgrace to him,
15
whereas if a woman has long hair it is her glory, because long hair has been given (her) for a covering?
In other words if you read v,s 13, 14, 15 in the N.I.V. and other versions you can plainly see that they contradict the prior verses. any one can see that it is talking about hair, not veils or hats.
Another thing is plain to see, if these other versions said exactly the same, why would anyone buy them? it would be millions of dollars every year that they would not get, its all about MONEY, MONEY, and more MONEY.
rev 17: 5
And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
I don,t know, but sure it makes me wonder.

The number of years that you have been doing exegesis does not lend any credibility to faulty conclusions.
You are taking a passage in Isaiah, comparing it to passages in Revelation and Peter ... and then drawing a conclusion without addressing the historical-grammatical issues that this comparison presents, not to mention the translation issues.
What is your view on translations? Are you a KJV Only advocate or do you just have a complaint against the NIV at this particular issue?

Check out the list of faiths to avoid. It cracked me up. Judaism is stuck between something called “Apostolic Oneness Pentacostal” and the Seventh Day Adventists!

well, you could take the logic leap of this thread and say “light bearer” sounds like “light sabre” hence Star Wars is actually satanic... /sarc

Bibletruth: I have been doing biblical exegesis for 30 years - so shut up. You are in error.
Yes, biggie, he's been doing this for 30 years and knows more than all of us. I remember reading a book by Michael Moorcock where a character says "The secrets of the multiverse are mine" (I think it was from "Corum of the Silver hand")

Jimmy Carter is no Baptist and never was. Hes a liberal reprobate.I thought the whole deal about the Baptist thing is that there is no authority other than the local congregation to say who is and who isn't a Baptist.

I do believe, son, that he is praying for your understanding, not your salvation.I believe it is important to some to assert, "Because I am saved, my understanding is correct." From this it seems to follow that if one disagrees with the understanding one is denying the salvation.
And somehow from this follow attacks on the Catholic Church.
A self-described exegete insists that we rely on his interpretation while attacking those who rely on the interpretation of scholars.
I need more coffee.

Does English have precedence over Hebrew or Greek? Would a Latin translation have more authority? What about a Russian translation which may use completely different terms?
A very good point -- and which English version? Old English? Middle English (similar to Shakespeare and the KJV)? Modern English? Australian English? AMerican English? Modern British English?

Well, thanks for the morning exercise. I'm fascinated by people who tell me what I think and believe. It has been interesting, especially the way as the weakness of the original post became increasingly apparent, so did the assault on Catholicism.
I have been doing biblical exegesis for 30 years - so shut up. You are in error.
Who can argue with 'reasoning' like this?
the only pride going on here is men on this page who trust scholars words above Gods Word...
30 years of study makes you a scholar. So in an effort to avoid pride, I will not trust your words.
On the contrary, I am saved by the blood of Jesus Christ and my eternal salvation has been accomplished by the cross of Christ dying for my sins; which are COMPLETELY FORGIVEN. Upon my last day on earth (death), I will be directly transferred into the presence of Christ. My salvation is assured by the Holy Spirit in Romans. My relationship with God is In Christ; that is: God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit are in my soul as is clearly explained in Romans through Philemon.
Well, glory to God! That however has nothing to do with the reliability of your exegesis.
You have correctly identified the Catholic church and Pope in their pride and self exaltment!
I think the word you're looking for is "exaltation." I wondered when and how the thread would reveal the anti-Catholicism.
Those books are NON-Biblical and NOT from GOD!
In what part of the Bible is the biblical canon set forth?

I wouldn’t call it hijacking. B posted his opinion and this was a rebuttal. If tomorrow someone posts “W should really be pronounced V”, then he needs to defend his statement against others.

Middle English (similar to Shakespeare and the KJV)? Modern English? Just a small point: Middle English is Chaucer, Gower, etc.; to the linguists, Modern English is Shakespeare, KJV, etc. What we speak today is Present Day English.
